Our first impression was not very good because the property is very old and right on the noisy highway but the room was large and clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff was nice enough. Breakfast was exceptional and the staff behind the breakfast bar was helpful. They offer fresh biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and more.

The reason it does not merit a higher rating:
The hotel smells very old and looks like it has not been refurnished since the 80's. We had a room on the highway side by choice - it is also the "ocean" side and you can see the beach through the highway on-ramp and train bridge. Yes, train bridge. The train goes by every once in a while too. Oddly enough, the constant freeway noise is rather like white noise and did not interrupt our sleep too badly. If you come back to the hotel late at night you may find it difficult to find parking but we got lucky each night with one of the last spots.

Room Tip: If you need a quiet room don't choose one on the highway side.

The room we had was very spacious with fridge, microwave, 40+” TV and mirrored wardrobe. The room was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. The work desk great was a great space for doing some local research using the complimentary wifi. Breakfast was very good with both hot and cold options. There was bacon, eggs, sausage, hash browns, biscuit, gravy toast, cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt, waffles, bagels and muffins. Overall we had a very good experience and feel it was good value for money. Our experience would have been improved if we had been told about the Managers Reception 5-7pm when free nibbles and alcohol are offered (we read about it later). It would also have been good to know the outdoor pool was heated as we would have been far more likely to make use of it.

It was a little hard to find. The entrance is sorta hidden. We thought it was a great hotel. Clean, well staffed, good breakfast. The carpet could use cleaning but I guess that is par for most hotels.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room away from the freeway.

Our family just spent 2 nights at this hotel, just over the freeway from the San Buenaventura Beach. Pros: 1. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable with a refrigerator, microwave, hairdryer, coffee pot, plenty of drawers and closet space, and a decent easy chair. We had the 2 queen set-up on the 2nd floor towards the ocean. 2. The pool was clean and pleasant. 3. The underground parking garage was a plus! 4. Great location-- just minutes to the beach by car. You can see an obstructed view of the ocean from the side of the building we were on. 5. We did not hear any noise from other hotel guests. 6. The checkout time was 12 noon which was great! We were able to get a morning swim in before leaving. Cons: 1. The coffee was horrible! We didn't like the stuff provided in the hotel room or in the breakfast room. In addition, though there was a breakfast provided each morning until 9:30, the food was not that great, and there was a not-so-friendly server behind the counter dishing up the hot stuff-- eggs, bacon, sausage. 2. The traffic on the ocean side of the building was terribly loud-- trains included. We had our double windows closed and you could still hear it in the background. By the 2nd night, we were getting accustomed to it. 3. The cable selections were very poor! Plan to bring your own devices with movies, or access to your favorite television shows because the channels available were very few. 4. Probably the biggest con was that our hotel keys did not work properly at the elevator coming in from the garage or from the pool coming in to the hotel again. We did not keep them by our cell-phones either! We did have them re-keyed, which helped for a little while, but then had trouble again. Overall, It was less expensive than the Crowne Plaza and except for the minor inconveniences I stated, this was a very comfortable hotel for a family.

Room Tip: If you are looking for an ocean view, choose the Crowne Plaza. This is really not meant to be an &q...

Would not accept the type of visa card I have but then charged my card anyway -- after i walked away without a room! They are still holding on to my funds, refusing to release! I am filing a complaint with BBB and the Chamber of Commerce, disputing the charges.

Room Tip: Dont, unless you enjoy paying for something you never got

Close to beach and many restaurants nearby within walking distance. Clean, large rooms. Near train track but relatively quite considering. Good breakfast selection. Aaron the chef was great. Happy hour with complimentary wine, beer and snacks.
