Owner description: Ventura Food Tours are guided walking tours, lasting between three and four hours, in downtown Ventura, downtown Ojai, and downtown Santa Barbara. Each tour stops at 6 different locations, where guests will enjoy tastings of some of the areas best food finds. As we walk the tour route, you'll meet chefs, entrepreneurs, and learn about the history of the area. Our tasting tours are intimate and informal, giving you a behind the scenes look into some of our gourmet food producers and culinary purveyors. Clam chowder, Polynesian food, handmade truffles, California olive oil, wine, cheese, and gelato are amongst the tasting options on the Downtown Ventura Tasting Tour.

This was a wonderful experience. We were met in the lobby of an old hotel by Allison Costa. she is a terrific tour guide. She explained what we were going to experience and provided us with history of the buildings and area we were touring. The event was well planned by her as each venue we entered was waiting expectantly for our arrival and welcomed us graciously. Each business provided information about them and samples of various items for tasting. This was a walking tour and was very enjoyable. I recommend contacting Allison and setting a tour up for you and your friends and family. Everyone will enjoy.

I had friends in for the weekend from Orange County and I wanted to do something fun with these "foodies." The Ventura Food Tour was perfect! We ate a bit, walked around, learned a little bit of history of the town as we were walking. Surprisingly enough we were all full by the time that we ended the tour. My friends LOVED this activity--it would be hard not to. I highly recommend!

My lady and I signed up for the Ojai Food Tour and were immersed in such delicious foods that we ended up returning to most of the restaurants the following day before heading out of town. We were the only ones on the tour which created a intimate environment that was a definite plus. Our guide Melissa was great and the restauranteurs of Ojai know how to cook, roast coffee, brew beer, and bake. If you enjoy the culinary arts and like nice people, take the tour.

I had seen the interesting review of this tour in our local paper last summer, and we finally made reservations and drove the short distance from our home in Thousand Oaks to Ventura. Our guide was Maureen, and she was extremely knowledgeable and friendly! She also provided a lot of fascinating history of the Ventura area, including historical photos.

We enjoyed all six stops, which included large size samples at every stop. The stops included Spencer Makenzies, a very popular fish "diner"; Trufflehounds, with delicious hand-made chocolate truffles; Paradise Panty, with wine and cheese tasting and other gourmet yummies; We Olive, with a huge assortment of olive oils, vinegars, and all kinds of other spreads and toppings; Tutti's Off Main, a beautiful restaurant that features unusual truly gourmet pizzas; and Palermo Coffee, with excellent gelato in numerous flavors. We enjoyed meeting the enthusiastic owners of these small businesses, and we will definitely return to these businesses on our next trip to Ventura.

We want to go on the Ojai Food Tour! Thanks, Allison and Maureen!
