The restaurant is clean and uncluttered. We enjoyed the wine, food, and friendly service. My partner and I split an excellent Cesare salad that had just the right hint of anchovy. I enjoyed spaghetti alla carbonara while my parter had a delicious dish of spaghetti alla vongole with fresh manila clams in white wine sauce. For dessert we shared a smooth creme brulee that was not too sweet. Well done. The price of the meal is very reasonable and well worth it. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual as you would expect for a restaurant at the beach. Hopefully this restaurant will help to revitalize a neighborhood in need of some help.

We have been to this restaurant several times. It is in a homelike setting, right near the beach in Ventura. The owners are charming and the food always excellent.

my wife and i were traveling south on hwy 101, when we decided to stop for dinner. We had heard of an italian restaurant named "spasso's" and we decided to try it. Seriously, that was one of the best , truest italian dining experiences that i've ever had in SoCal.My wife and i had a true "penne alla puttanesca" that only some italian mama can cook! The "tiramisu" was superb, and freshly prepared. Very good service too, the young waitress(although not italian) had a vast knowledge of the italian cuisine, and she was also able to suggest us some good italian red wine. The price was fair, considering that "Spasso's" is probably as close as you can get to the true italian home made food in SoCal .

What a great restaurant.
We went over a sunny day. We stayed for about 3 hours! drinking great beers and wines.
And oh the food, just marvelous. Very tasty, interesting dishes. And we tried a lot of them, they are all good. Tiramisu is the best I ever had.

I agree with the previous reviewer. I don't understand how this place could rate so high. There must be a lot of very hungry beach bums that are happy to eat anything after spending a day in the sun and surf.
The entryway offers seating that could be very romantic, except the floors are dirty, half the light bulbs don't work, the ceiling is covered with dust and spiderwebs. The cute tables for two have dropping of bird poop.
We were seated at a poo table, and moved to a clean one. A busboy noticed us moving and we said we wanted a clean table. He quickly returned and wiped down our table, but left the others for the next customers to enjoy.
Previous glowing reviews praised the martinis. We mentioned this to the waitress and she seemed surprised. We ordered two dirty martinis, which is made with vodka and olive juice. She quickly arrived with two regular martinis, no olive juice. We mentioned that and she returned with a small cup of olive juice. This was very odd because all other places we've been to take drinks back and return with fresh ones. We mentioned this and she took the drinks and returned with two Dirty Martinis. Don't eat the olives, they taste like plastic.
We ordered the most popular dish, pasta carbonara. It was extremely average. It was delivered lukewarm. The pasta was overcooked and gooey. The tiramisu wasn't fresh. It had an unpleasant refrigerator/freezer taste.
I'd rate this restaurant as an average beach restaurant that serves Italian food.
On the positive side, service was fast and friendly. It's a good stop after a day on the beach.
