Two years ago, I would have called Watermark one of Ventura's top restaurants and given it 5 stars across the board. I have no idea where its previous chef went but man, do I miss him! He made an awesome osso bucco. Watermark has always been on the pricey side for Ventura but now $30-$40 an entree is unjustifiable. For whatever reason, it has turned into a steakhouse with a side farm to table menu and the food just isn't all that incredible. Inside a beautifully restored turn of the century building, Watermark still gets high marks for aesthetics. But I've been pretty disappointed with the last two meals I've had here-- which really bums me out. Do have a martini at the bar though and check out the restorated murals. It's a beautiful place.
