Two years ago, I would have called Watermark one of Ventura's top restaurants and given it 5 stars across the board. I have no idea where its previous chef went but man, do I miss him! He made an awesome osso bucco. Watermark has always been on the pricey side for Ventura but now $30-$40 an entree is unjustifiable. For whatever reason, it has turned into a steakhouse with a side farm to table menu and the food just isn't all that incredible. Inside a beautifully restored turn of the century building, Watermark still gets high marks for aesthetics. But I've been pretty disappointed with the last two meals I've had here-- which really bums me out. Do have a martini at the bar though and check out the restorated murals. It's a beautiful place.

We were just passing through Ventura on a road trip along the West Coast and we were so happy to find this restaurant. We had an amazing night here

It's not that the food was too expensive, it's that the food was not good enough for the price! Anyone that thinks the food here is superb, wonderful or amazing, clearly needs to venture out further! If this is the best that Ventura has to offer for "fine dining", we will be looking elsewhere. Coming from Miami Beach FL, this food is what you would find in the chain restaurants, shame on the Chef! It's really too bad, because the decor is really great and the service was very good, but we will not be going back nor will I recommend it to anyone else.

We made our reservation to allow enough time to go upstairs to the bar before dinner. But, as with many large family groups, we had some stragglers, so we were running a bit late for going downstairs. The staff was gracious and cheerful about this. Our table was all ready. They had plenty of service people ready to help us with questions and orders. At a very large gathering it really makes a difference!

Drinks were exceptional! View exceptional! Food Super Exceptional---every single plate! Every single person in our group loved their food. Even though we were taking up a lot of space, we never felt rushed at all.

Yes, this is one of the pricier places in Ventura, but they sure deliver the value.

They have an excellent brunch selection of items, which I prefer more than the standardized "buffet" all you can eat Sunday brunch. Each meal comes with one free champagne or mimosa, and a second is a mere $4, certainly reasonably priced. They feature different versions of Benedict, stuffed French toast, and a good sampling of other filling meals. Best off, our group of 4 had a bill totaling $75. Chris was outstanding as a waiter-very attentive and a cheerful smile in a take-your-time eating atmosphere. We will be back to sample other menu options! Great historical old building on main st. that's beautiful inside.
