The photos do not exaggerate the gorgeous location of this hotel. It's right on the beach. Although you have to walk a block or two to get to the sandy part. All the rooms have ocean views. And although the hotel is also just barely off the 101, once you enter, you'd never know. The on-sight restaurant is very good. The room was clean and a bit shabby. It could use some updating. But then I'm sure the price would go up from the $200/night that we paid. We'd definitely go back.
The place was so bad we decided to check out 30 minutes after we walked into the room. The floors were worn out. The wooden floors are noisy. The linens are 1960 floral designs and torn up. No ac or heat, no screen on the windows. A couple light bulbs were burnt out so the lighting was horrible. The beds are worn out. The the place was way over priced. WORST PART OF ALL WAS THE HOTEL REFUSED TO REFUND OUR MONEY! BAD CHOICE.
For 8 years I have traveled from Canterbury in England to stay in this piece of heaven. This hotel is the opposite of a corporate offering, with fresh bunches of flowers everywhere, no canned music, and reading is encouraged by the loungers that look out to sea. I spent hours watching the dolphins and surfers. Hosts Nellie and John will look after you with a smile.
This place is great because is not your usual luxurious hotel, but rather down to earth, clean, but with an amazing view. The staff is very friendly, and the restaurant amazing. We spent time with friends of ours and each of us had a different dish. We were all very impressed with the food and enjoyed salmon with risotto, cioppino, and a really tasty goat cheese salad. We'll go back anytime!
Our favorite escape on the Central Coast. Alone at Muscle Shoals, with a private beach, large swimming pool, big view rooms and a delicious restaurant for outdoor oceanside dining, this hotel may seem a bit '60's funky, but is the best value and most romantic stay in the Santa Barbara/ Ventura coast.
