The Love Nest

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Mar 19, 2019
Our favorite escape on the Central Coast. Alone at Muscle Shoals, with a private beach, large swimming pool, big view rooms and a delicious restaurant for outdoor oceanside dining, this hotel may seem a bit '60's funky, but is the best value and most romantic stay in the Santa Barbara/ Ventura coast.

Had the pleasure of staying at the Cliffhouse Inn in Ventura California. Of note when traveling to the Inn access is only available on the southbound freeway side. The rooms were quite dated, but clean and serviceable. There is no direct access to the beach without climbing down a very steep and rock strewn hill. The breakfast buffet was nothing special and the food at the restaurant was OK. If you are looking for a quiet an out-of-the-way place on the California coast this might be your cup of tea.

A charming little inn on the water between Ventura and Carpenteria. It is isolated, so be ready to drive to restaurants, shopping, and activities, but it’s a lovely way to start and end your day on the coast of CA.

The view was spectacular. Absolutely enjoyed our stay over there. However, the only draw back was the refrigerator didn't work and the toilet paper was only one layer and too thin. Otherwise it would get 5 stars from me.

This hotel is really isolated which is nice if you want solitude, but don't try to get a cup of coffee before 7:30. There is none. The "continental breakfast" opens at 7:30 and there is no place to get a cup of coffee before that. No machine in the room, only a hot water dispenser with tea in the lobby.
The pool is not heated and there is no jacuzzi.
The refrigerator in the room did not work.
The staff is not very friendly or service oriented.
I would definitely not stay here again.

I absolutely loved this place although I was a bit worried after reading a couple of reviews. I am glad I did not listen. My two nights were awesome. First, it is right on the beach and the view is amazing. Second, my room was cozy, clean and nice. It had a good fridge to put our snacks, comfy bed and television. I thought we had an air conditioner but we did not need it. Breakfast was included and parking was free. The food at the restaurant was so delicious. We ate there all two nights.
