“Awesome location & customer service but.....”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2013

This is my 2nd business trip to El Paso and I opted to stay downtown because it was affordable and I wanted to see if it was better than other locations. I truly appreciate the hotel for accepting and or honoring the state rate for TX employees as well.

I do appreciate the affordable cost since I travel often for work. The front desk personnel was professional and personable. As another person pointed out.... it appears that the hotel is undergoing some upgrades or changes which are visible in the hotel lobby. It seems as though they just started because even though the rooms now have flat screens the aesthetic decor and fixtures are still from 1980's era. I also noticed that my AC would not maintain a cold temperature and that the bathroom exhaust fan did not work.

The front desk was sweet enough to recognize me as a Platinum Priority Club member and also to provide me a microwave and small personal fridge in my room. I was informed that the parking situation is sticky since people want to park in the hotel parking lot because there are many bars and restaurants nearby.

To be honest I think it would best that they demolished the old dated hotel and started from scratch because it is a pretty old. I would recommend that they include an indoor heated pool, sauna, fitness center, updated business center and don't forget a strong WiFi service for those of us who need a strong internet access.

I will continue to return as long as the owners of this hotel maintain a good hotel rate for those of us who work for the state and frequently travel. I recommend the hotel also provide a couple of washers and dryers so that I don't have to go looking for a laundromat.

Room Tip: If you don't want to drive your vehicle Holiday Inn has a shuttle that will take you around to y...

Thank you so much for taking the time to give us feedback regarding your recent stay, we are very happy our front desk staff was proffessional and personable as they do work very hard to provide the best of service. Our hotel lobby and breakfast room renovation is near completion and looks great, our business center was also renovated and it is more spacious and practical.
Also thank you for being one of our Priority Club Platinum Members and very glad your status was recognized at check in.
Finally, glad to report our next plan for renovation does include improvements in our guest rooms, again, thank you for staying with us.

We stayed one night during a trip across Texas. The hotel is dated, but is currently under renovation. It will likely be a much nicer stay upon completion. We slept well and didn't have any irregular issues arise. For being downtown, it was pretty quiet. The breakfast was the Holiday Inn Express standard, which we always enjoy. I'd stay again, but wouldn't pay a premium for this hotel.

This is an older hotel on the edge of downtown and not your typical Holiday Inn Express cookie cutter experience, for this I am thankful. Rooms are very large, tastefully furnished, and solidly built, this blocked out most of the noise both from the street and neighboring rooms.

The staff, Charles especially, took a proactive approach to making my stay enjoyable rather than offer the shortest answers to my questions. Location is great for downtown El Paso, as well as the pedestrian crossing to Juarez if you are so inclined. Breakfast is the brand standard fare, if you like it elsewhere you'll like it here.

What tipped this from a good stay to an excellent value was the airport shuttle, this saved me the cost and hassle of renting a car in unfamiliar territory. If I have reason to return to El Paso, I will be staying here.

Our first ever stay at a Holiday Inn Express, and we were not impressed. After looking through the various hotels to stay at while in Chihuahua we decided to give this place a try since it is located in the heart of El Paso. The location is perfect, but that is about it.

Even though they were remodeling the hotel, that wasn't the reason for disliking this place. Upon first entry into our room I was overwhelmed by the obnoxious odor of the shampoo and soap, and had a immediate allergic reaction. Since I have never had such an incident before at any hotel, this surprised me and if we hadn't used the coffee filters and delivery pizza box as air freshener we would have had to check out and find another hotel to stay.

Combine that with asking the front desk to make sure we didn't get any more of the shampoo and soap from the cleaning crew, which in fact happened again and again. Clearly the two departments are not working together. So we had to be there to ensure they wouldn't put any more of it in the room after we thrown the stuff out in the first place.

Then there are the stinky cigarette smokers who stand right outside the door , making the whole lobby reek. The free wi-fi (which really, really sucked, btw) computers are located inside the lobby near the front, so you have to smell the atrocious lung-infested breath of these chain-smoking addicts puffing right on the other side of the wall. It immediately gets sucked into the hotel.

The breakfast buffet is HORRIBLE. Completely over salted eggs, how is that even possible? Then the lack of anything fresh except for bananas, if you get there early enough. The price we payed for this room we expected at least a halfway decent breakfast, you will not get that here.

Room ventilation and thermostat control is bad. In fact, thermo control is practically useless. The only good thing about the room are the beds, the are comfortable fortunately.

We couldn't even use the laundry room at all due to the remodeling gig, so we payed full price but didn't get the full service we expect for such a supposedly good hotel. Instead we had to take our laundry up the street to a local laundromat, the one good thing about that is they were cheaper than the hotel.

Unless you are bent on staying downtown like we were, save your money and find a place out near the airport or Ft. Hood military base where the prices are a third cheaper. This Holiday Inn is asking way to much for such paltry services.

Room Tip: Don't get a room near any of the ice makers. Ours was on the eighth floor, it isn't the mach...

The hotel is under construction and the dust and noise makes it stressful. The rugs are dirty, the ac in the room didn't work. The breakfast bagels were old. Find some another hotel don't stay here.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are currently renovating our lobby area, all guests are advised in advance about the renovation and given the option to relocate to another hotel and it is coordinated by us. No guests have requested to move to another hotel as we coordinate constru ction work during business hours and are happy to see the changes coming up with the renovation.
We have maintained our guest floors with the same high hotel standards as it relates to cleanliness and the feedback from guests has been very positive.

I stayed at this hotel on my way across America to Houston. The reception was nicely decorated and well kept. Staff could not have been more helpful.
As expected breakfast was self service but had a better than average selection of food. Although this Holiday Inn Express did not provide food in the evening there was a shuttle service which allowed me to visit restaurants elsewhere and once again the service was excellent.
My room was very well appointed and immaculately clean.
Five star hotel for a much lower cost.

Six of us classmates stayed at this hotel. A pleasure to be treated so Special by every employee we encountered! They made us feel so welcome and happy to be back in El Paso after so many years..The Breakfast Buffet was awesome and healthy choices were available, staff was very friendly. Our rooms were immaculate and updated and CLEAN. Yes this is an "older" facility, but location was great to downtown areas (walking distance to everything) Also keep in mind that this is only your "landing zone" and minimal time is spent in the room, so Yes the aminities were there if we had been there enough to use them..fridges,micro waves. laundry, pool etc.. Vehicles were watched by security as well. Oh and Sunday church services were provided..with music! Shuttle was appreciated and used by us. Maria Saucedo was our favorite Manager! She was so engaging and helpful and outgoing and willing to do whatever it took to make our stay both memorable and pleasant. Hope you get to meet her! Don't usually do reviews, but our stay in our beautiful city was enhanced by the staff at Holiday Inn Express Central and wanted everyone to now it. Thank You, my Maria..
