This restaurant is a little hard to see in a storefront setting but after going around the block. It was well worth the trip. The setting is not real romantic but nice enough. That said the menu is extensive and our server was very helpfull. She [Alejandra] made good suggestions. My favorite date [my wife] had chicken Angelo and I the Rigatoni Isabella both were good and wife took 1/2 away for a later time. This is a reopening of an old family restaurant I haven't been there before but will want to go back.

“The Reincarnation of Cappetto's”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

El Pasoans grew up dining at the original Cappetto's, which was a tradition for over 40 years. In October 2012 we were saddened by the announcement of their closing. Rumors were flying, but the sluggish economy and perhaps the dated 5-Points location took it's toll.

This May Cappetto's announced the opening of a new era, Nouvo Cappetto, located in the trendy Kern District. The new restaurant replaced the checkered tablecloths and dated furnishings for a modern, sleek look. The dining area is open on three sides, with a rectangular bar in the center near the entrance and just in front of the open-windowed kitchen. Being an open area, there is a fair amount of noise. The restaurant was jammed on our visit, and could have a normal conversation without much distraction.

Fans will be glad to know the owner has returned to his new "digs", and has in large part kept the familiar original menu items, which is Mom-'n-Pop homemade pasta. As in the past, the portions are huge (half-plate orders welcomed), and are wonderful! If you're looking for some spicy Northern Italian cuisine with a Las Vegas price tag, Nuovo Cappetto may not be for you. For those of us who made Cappetto's a regular dining experience, the "happy" is back!

The old expansive menu returns with a host of Appetizers ($7.95 - $11.95), with featured Soups and Salads, Pizza and Stromboli, Panini, and Sandwiches. The main menu starts with the "Pasta della Casa" (create your own dish - $10.95)), and an array of Pasta, Veal, Chicken, Beef and Seafood selections (most entrees in the $12 - $20 range). They also have a Children's Menu and delicious desert items. Some of the great, friendly waitstaff has returned, and the service is exceptional. The full bar has your favorite beverages, and I was pleased to see the old, smallish water glasses used for wine have been replaced by standard wine goblets.

Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience, and I welcome back the wonderful comfort food we've enjoyed for our 20+ years in El Paso.
