My wife and I went there, ordered a sushi plus BBQ chicken. We waited for 1 hr and the chicken was not served. We asked, we we were told by a waiter that they didn't have chicken that day. We paid for the sushi (w/o tip) and left. Will not go back again.

The cooks should be rated 5 stars, but the service sucks, waitters make faces when you order and for the price is not worth it going. SAVE your time and dont go. IT should be rated the worst place to eat in El Paso. You feel more welcome at CHICOS than this place.

overall i had a bad experience at japanese kitchen in both of their locations LAS CRUCES & EL PASO. Their food is too pricy for the quality they display. Basically i can go to Panda Express and get better service and quality. the appearance of the restaruant in las cruces is far better than the one in el paso, but the one in las cruces is so slow and empty (makes me wonder why people prefer Katana) One more thing: PUT A SMILE ON YOUR SERVERS FACES, they look like they hate their job!

it took 1 hour to even get the first of our sushi order. The sushi chef wasn't even Japanese. When we complained the sushi chef made our squid salad with his hands so gross. Every one who spoke spanish were severe right away but us English speaking regular folks have had to wait.

My husband and I used to frequent this restaurant quite frequently when we lived on the Northeast side of town. Since moving to Horizon City though we haven't gone to the West side of town very often. When KLAQ had the Japanese Kitchen on the 1/2 off store we got a gift certificate and went. We took our son since it was his birthday. We thought this would be a real treat for the three of us. Unfortunately that's not the case. Our waitress was obviously new because she didn't know what number went with what meal. She literally took our order and brought the bill and that was the only thing she did the entire time we were there. On the menu it says soup and salad served with the meal and neither we served or offered to us, but every other table in the place got it.(Server's fault) Our cook was either having a bad day or was tired because he lacked any energy and totally over cooked my husbands lobster. The steak and rice was cooked perfectly though. We were happy to see that the table across from us had a young guy cooking for them because we got to watch the awesome show they got that we expected.
I think had we gotten another waitress and another cook we would have had a great time like we used to have. Make sure if you go you don't get a girl with long blond hair. She is a terrible waitress. The guy who brought our drinks was on it! I never had to ask for a drink! Since there are several Japanese restaurants on the East side of town I think we'll just stay with them and not waste our time and money going to a place that lacks the service and enthusiasm we expect from a restaurant like that, ESPECIALLY at that price!
