A great place to take the kids. Do go early in the day during the summer as the temperature can climb into the 100's.

We went here not expecting a lot and were pretty blown away! We had a 16-month old and a 4 year old and they had a blast! There is a small train ride that goes around the Africa part of the zoo which looked like it would be a lot of fun for kids. We wanted to do it, but didn't have time. This zoo excels at making the best use of what they have. It feels like you float seamlessly between exhibits and never lack stimulation. They had THREE GIRAFFES when we were there which we really loved and a time when you could actually feed the giraffes. You really feel like you can get up close to the animals here. What really made the trip awesome was the SPLASH PAD, PLAYGROUND and CAROUSEL! There is tons for kids to do! (and see!) The Tree-house like playground stands out as one of the favorite things for our little ones. Also, much of the park is shaded. We also enjoyed the Sea Lion exhibit, the view from the bottom floor was cool for the kids and offered a nice place to sit inside for a minute.

Overall we were VERY IMPRESSED!!! Frankly I liked it a lot better than the zoo we have here in San Antonio and I think the ratings for this attraction should be higher- especially for those looking for something to do with kids!

Well the zoo has been improved over the years...but they could still fix some issues. For instance, the leopard or cheetah exhibit, is hard to really see sometimes. There is also a section with snakes perhaps or spiders, or frogs, I wouldnt know, it's placed where the sun makes it hard to see through the windows. It's a waste. The food there is alright, the snow cones are refreshing. It would be nice if the train went around more exhibits than just the first round about area. Wish they would expand it and being in more animals. They have a section for a petting zoo but you can't pet anything. The sea lion exhibit performance was closed off for some time due to the mating season. The boo at the zoo is pretty neat for the kids though. The activities they plan are great but it would be neat if they did these events year round as well.

Very surprised how awesome this zoo is. Very well laid out, clean, and many animal enclosures had multiple view points. Better than many zoos I've been to in larger cities.

As a school volunteer I was asked if I would be interested in chaperoning the 2nd grade class. I agreed and I don't regret it. I had not visited the zoo in over 5 years, so this was a pleasant surprise to find all the new exhibits and the strong focus on climate change and recycling. The staff was friendly and would stop if you had questions and would answer them. Great visit.
