“Breakfast at Ashley's is pretty nice”
Reviewed December 18, 2013

I have never eaten at the places in New York and LA which boast of "power breakfasts", where deals are supposedly made and egos flexed. However, I would wager a bet, that the breakfast at Ashley's in Little Rock's Capital Hotel ranks with any breakfast in those powerful haunts. First, the Christmas tree in the Capital Hotel lobby received an award as one of America's 10 most beautiful. Go in to see it, if nothing else. The dining room is formal, - linens and flowers and silver and crystal - but the service is totally friendly and down home. No pretense, no attitude. One guy had a suit on and the next guy had jeans on. They are welcoming to everyone. There are free New York Times and other newspapers laying out on a table inside the door. The menu has ala cartes and full breakfasts. The prices are reasonable for what you receive. My full breakfast was 12 dollars and I could have spent less or more. Be sure and ask them what their specialties are - what is made from scratch on the menu which deserves ordering. They may say that their bacon is made from scratch (bacon? I honestly didn't realize bacon COULD be made from scratch at a restaurant! They also have a pastry chef who makes fresh croissants, muffins etc - I had a special almond and blueberry muffin and I normally could not begin to figure out whether a muffin was home-baked, and this one was obvious even to me - really amazing. They even had two kinds of home-made butters as well. Though you will not see them around, Ashley's is carefully overseen by the very successful and generous Stephens family who owns the hotel. Every detail is taken care of. They are open for breakfast every day. Give yourself a present in 2014 and have breakfast in this great place. They plan a remodel in the spring so there could be some closure and changes coming up. Knowing the Stephens, I suspect they will find a way to make it even better.

“Beautiful Atmosphere”
Reviewed December 16, 2013

We had a group go out to dinner at Ashley's while visiting Little Rock. It was highly recommended by the locals. Though expensive, the food was great. I left full but the men felt the portions were too small and were hungry afterward. The main dishes were served in small appetizer size dishes but the amount was small. i.e. $32 for two scallops. However, the food quality and atmosphere was great.

Food and service are both amazing. Lots of special touches. The waitress made excellent food and wine suggestions.

“Classic restaurant for a classic hotel”
Reviewed December 3, 2013

Like the hotel that houses it (and the bar across the lobby, for that matter), Ashley's goes for classic and traditional over trendy and flashy. Nothing too precious or fussy--just solid, high-end dining done right. (When the first item on the menu is Oysters Rockefeller, well, that tells you something.) The wine list could benefit from a few more bottles at the lower end. Breakfast portions are large enough to be split.

“Foodie Heaven in Little Rock”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

Having travelled on business for the last few weeks and subjected to numerous restaurants and hotel food, Ashley's was such a welcome relief. So much so, that I dined out here twice over the weekend. The service was excellent and as a solo dinner and wearing jeans, I was made most welcome. My server, Joshua, was delightful. The food was excellent and perfectly portioned. No criticism from me.
