My daughter and I went to Wild River Country water park yesterday in Little Rock. We'd been there once before, about a year ago.
It's under a 3-hour drive from where we live, so it's an easy drive once every now and then to get there and enjoy a pretty decent water park for the day and then come back home, all in the same day or maybe spanned over a 2-day period.
The water park is supposedly under new management and I could tell various areas of the park had been spruced-up a little between last year and this year. Most of the slides had been painted from 2012 to 2013, so that was a nice visual thing to see and easier to identify which slide we wanted to go on next, etc.
This is not a water park like you'd find in Orlando, Florida or other areas that have higher-end water parks, but again, it's a pretty good park for this area of the country.
Most all of the slides are within fairly close proximity to one another, so there's not a ton of walking. The path up to the slides is fairly steep on many of the slides, so be prepared for that.
Both times we've gone, they've been during a weekday and the crowds have been very slim. I'd say at the most yesterday throughout 8 hours of being there, we may have waited 5 min. at the longest to ride any of the slides. Many of them we literally got on immediately after climbing the stairs to the slides.
There was one employee, a Caucasiun guy, that was working the slide that shoots you through a tube and then you go around in a toilet-bowl-like thing and then drop out of the middle. Loudest, most in your face employee we came in contact with the entire day. Spent the entire time while we were waiting to ride the slide mouthing-off about how he'd worked at the park for 6 years straight and made a measley $8 per hour each summer he's worked there and said "... and that, my friend, is BS!" While he didn't say the spelled-out version of "BS", that was inappropriate for him to be bad-mouthing his salary and using abbreviated curse words in front of park guests, and doing so in such a loud manner. This guy needs to tone it down and keep his salary info. to himself. Very unprofessional.
We had hot dogs for lunch and they were atrocious. Overcooked to the point of no return. Most people were ordering the hamburger and I must admit, those looked much better. Standard food options though for a water park like this... you just have the basic choices (hamburgers / hot dogs / chicken tenders / french fries / etc.).
We'll be back again in the future, probably about once per year or so. Not a phenemenal water park, but a decent one that's fairly close to our home.
