We got briefly lost trying to find this place. It's on the south edge of town, down an oddly-placed road beside the Interstate. But it's worth looking for. You can't walk anywhere from the motel, but you're a quick drive from everywhere in town. The staff was friendly, we were given our room despite an early arrival, the room was pleasant, quiet, and well appointed with a good TV set-up. The cast-plastic shower/tub stall was uncomfortable. The free breakfast downstairs was excellent, despite the louts that used the breakfast room without wearing shoes. The hotel has a small business center with a free computer, fast web access, and AAA tour books that are helpful to travelers. The indoor pool and spa were a little cramped and dark. The spa was crowded with several adults and children who we learned weren't guests, but were in fact friends of the motel operator. Seems like only paying guests should have access. But we enjoyed our stay. Cedar City is very pleasant, and we would stay here again if we were ever in town.

Stayed after driving over 500 miles from Denver. Got adjoining rooms. Rooms were huge, very clean, very comfy beds. Loved the chair with ottoman in King room, very comfy. Nice pool, nice girl at front desk.
Awesome breakfast, the best continental I have ever seen. Hot omelet , sausage, real yummy biscuits just out of oven.
Love this hotel.

We passed through Cedar City on the way from California to Colorado, and had chosen this hotel for the night. It's near the south end of town, sitting below the mountains, but still close to a good variety of stores, etc. just across I-70. It seems very new, really clean, and spacious. The two-queen bed room we had felt bigger than most we've had in comparable hotels. Good, free high-speed internet. Great breakfast buffet choices (although wasn't wild about Fox News being chosen for the TV). Would definitely stay again.

My wife and I stayed two nights in Cedar City while touring Zion National Park and other area attractions. The Holiday Inn Express was situated close to the interstate exit but did not have any traffic noise issues. We received an upper floor room facing the mountains and found the view memorable. The parking lot in the back is very close to the elevators which made our access very easy.
Our room was sparkling, modern and roomy. The guest laundry was just down the corridor and very convenient for us.
On our first day we toured Zion National Park and found this to be an incredible experience. The air was so refreshing and the views were just tremendous. The park has several short day hikes that are definitely worthwhile and full of peace and quiet in the Fall--when we were there. Tip: If you time your trip to Zion to fall after the busy seasons of late Summer and Early Fall, you have full access to the park with your car and are not bound to the park's shuttle bus service which stops running in early October.
The second day we toured the campus of Southern Utah University right in the heart of Cedar City. The history of the university is very interesting. You can learn much about it by visiting the "Old Sorrel" memorial statue on campus along with "The Centurium" --a collection of the statues of twelve great thinkers of the past. The Mountain Meadows Massacre Memorial is about 45 minutes drive from town. It commemorates a dark moment in Utah's history--the worst massacre in our nation's history--and does not even appear on several touring maps.
Back to the hotel...the business center had unlimited internet usage which we used to book our next hotel. The hot breakfast buffet was a clear winner and very popular with hotel guests. It had much to choose from and was served in a comfortable dining room.
The marks against the Holiday Inn Express are rather important ones in my book: the rather steep nightly rates and the indifference and defensiveness displayed by the front desk staff. At check-in, the staff member would not even look up at us and was very quick to hand us the keys and get us out of her blonde hair. At check-out, I merely offered a different front desk staff member our feedback on one of the area restaurants on their printed "recommended list." The Mexican restaurant looked nice from the outside but turned out to be a bit of a shady operation with poor service, bland food and "ghost billing." I calmly mentioned that to the hotel clerk at check-out when she snapped "No one has ever said anything bad about it." And then quickly turned to serve the next guest in line.
In summary, we give the hotel high marks for the room and the breakfast. The lackluster service gets a big fat zero which it definitely deserves.

This HIE location is fairly new so the premises and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. The front desk upgraded my room to a king suite because the standard rooms do not have a refrigerator for my medication. This is a popular hotel for travelers of all ages and yet it was quiet most of the time.

There are two types of pillows on each bed, soft and firm. You have a choice!!! Pool is indoor. Standard fare free HIE Breakfast bar.
