Lots of things to see. Make sure to take the # 12 scenic route.
We plan on going again this year. Drive slow or you may miss something beautiful.

“Escalante Ranger District High Country”
Reviewed February 12, 2014

When it is hot on the valley floor, head up to the high country. Some very nice high elevation grasslands, hawks abound, and usually fairly quiet in the non-hunting season. You can camp most anywhere and it is free.

This Aquarius Plateau country is worth the visit!

“Lots of great places for Camping and Fishing”
Reviewed December 9, 2013

We love to camp in this forest and ride our ATV through the trails, it has a mixture of Pine forest, high meadows, lava rock flows. Duck Creek Area is popular with visitors but there are a number of places to visit here including the Mammoth Lava Tubes.

“Beautiful scenery”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

This is a huge national forest and we continually drove in and out of it while visiting Zion NP, Bryce Canyon NP and Cedar Breaks NM. Beautiful vistas and the aspen trees with their brilliant yellow fall leaves were worth seeing.

Quiet walk abouts at various locations. Officially closed because of the US Government shutdown, but accessible by foot.
