The only reason we aren't rating this a 5 is because it is so early in the season the potties are closed. Other than that, it is a beautiful place to bring the whole family including the doggie. The lake and Falls are beautiful!

For those who like to hike in snow-covered woods, this is a lovely nature preserve in Winter. It's only an hour or so from Washington, DC. The frozen falls are particularly beautiful.

We've visited CFSP a few times, most recently this past summer, when we camped there for two nights. The campsite was fine, and there are some nice trails to hike on. But the falls are little more than a trickle in the summer - unless there has recently been heavy rain - and the park is extremely crowded with day visitors. Most crowded (and unpleasant, in my opinion) is the lake, which fills up with so many day visitors that they close it to additional cars (you can still hike in from the campground). The lake is manmade, fairly small, and shallow, and the water doesn't move much. As a result, it is pretty stagnant, and the crowds of infants lolling about in the very shallow water makes it hard not to imagine that the water quality is probably pretty dubious. I liked the campground, and even the trickly waterfall was fun to climb around. But the lake was so unpleasant that I couldn't wait to get away from it. I will probably go again, but will skip the lake.

Lot's to do in this park. The trails are well maintained and scenic. The lake is wonderful. Lots of grills and tables to picnic.

This is a great park, and not just because we live near it. This park has a lake with great beach, the falls, and some great activities for the kids. In March look for the Maple Sugaring activities they have at the park. It can be crowded during the summer. There are some great trails as well.
