“A tad worn down!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 5, 2014

Great location, decor and furnishings are absolute gorgeous, however, there is a worn down feeling to it all. Beds are comfy, and staff could be friendlier, especially Irina.
The view wasn't that amazing, there was no mini bar, kettle etc, the usual things you would find in a 4 star, and the bathroom was slightly scabby and shower not the best.
In saying that, however, the place was very clean and spotless.

Thank you for your comments and review. Our most sincere apologies that we did not meet your expectations. You are correct, we are not a 4star hotel. We are a 3star/diamond AAA rated property. Most on line reservation sites have their own criteria for star ratings which is usually based on customer feedback and not the actual amenities/services offered. Again our apologies and thank you for your valuable feedback.

My full name is Mamadou Oury Diallo (Email address: oury.diallo@undp.org )
I enjoyed staying at your hotel while i was on a professional trip to New York; the place is great as well as the offered services. Special thanks to all the staff specially those at the reception lounge (e.g. Ms Marcia) and the ones at the luggage service. They were very nice, smiling when taking care of the customers. If given another chance to come to NY again, I will definitely be staying again at this Hotel. I enjoyed my stay in NY and at Roosevelt Hotel. Thank you very much again
Sincerely

Visited at Thanks Giving with my Mum for a four day shopping trip. Location is good, we enjoy a walk so didn't mind it being away from some of the larger attractions. Staff lovely and room clean.
Value for money was good.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floored room to avoid street noise.

I got a great deal on this hotel via Expedia and I decided to stay based on the location. It's a great classic hotel with a fantastic bar and lobby. The rooftop bar was closed for the season, but I'm sure it would be a great place for drinks.

Breakfast buffet was a bit pricey so we went to Applebee's Time Square which wasn't too far away.

The room on the 3rd floor seemed cold as there was a draught coming from the window; we were staying during a very cold spell. The noise from the street was constant, especially sirens at 5:30 every morning. The wardrobe was very small.

Apart from those minor niggles. I enjoyed our stay. We got a cab to the airport which was $32. A nice hotel in a great location. If the wi-fi had been free I'd have given 4 stars

We live in New Jersey and occasionally stay in NYC for a weekend. We hadn't been to The Roosevelt in many years. It is a classic hotel and still has a beautiful lobby area. Unfortunately, the pleasure stopped there. First, one of our room keys didn't work, but we got in with the second one. We were on the third floor and the view out the window was awful - a filthy working platform with industrial pipes, etc. A view that should not be "sold" to a guest. I tried to use the in-room safe but it didn't work and when we looked at the battery compartment the batteries were corroded. The bed was comfortable but when I used the bathroom during the night, there were two large bugs in the bathtub. The next morning, while I was in the shower, my wife plugged a flat iron in the wall and the power blew. While I showered in the dark, the tub filled with water. They fixed the power pretty quickly. When I went to get ice, I saw a large cockroach in the "soda" room. We were out all day and got back around 4:30 and our room was never cleaned. One bright spot is that the breakfast buffet was great, although expensive ($28 per person). Good selection of food and great coffee. When we checked out, they never asked how are stay was, and even argued with us when we said our parking garage (offsite) would give us a discount if they validated our parking ticket (which did happen).

Room Tip: Higher floors should have better views; Park off-site to save money

Visited this hotel with family stayed 3 nights package trip. Spacious hotel reasonably decorated. Good location. Staff attitude very poor had to ask twice for a coffee machine then did not bring enough coffee pods even after being asked twice again. Reception staff not very helpful had to move rooms as room safe not working not appropriate towels in bathroom.

Besides the 'general history' behind the hotel, there was nothing good about it. While checking in, the customer service rep said no more than 5 words to us (not even a hello), our room was TINY, the TV was broken (and in the stupidest place I've ever seen), and everything seemed generally rundown and not taken care of. We also went to enter through a different set of doors after doing some sightseeing, and were told that they just cleaned the floors and we would have to go around, as to not ruin the job they just did (believe me, I get it, but then they should lock the doors). Just a generally terrible experience.
