Just backs from a trip to NYC with my fiance. Stayed in the Roosevelt for two nights, wasn't expecting the Ritz for the money we paid but the standard of room and service we received was below standard.
When entering The Roosevelt, the foyer and bar area are impressive but this doesnt reflent the standard in the rest of the hotel. The room we were in was a pretty bog standard room although it was outdated and smelled very musty, I'm not usually the type to complain and for the length of time we'd be in the room I said nothing.
The first night we were there we got engaged in the city, the next morning we found the heating had broken in the room and went down to tell reception and asked about a nail parlour for my fiance as we had just got engaged...there wasnt even as much as a sorry about the heating or an acknowledgement of our engagement, the answer was simply there are a few up the street and the engineer will have a look at the heating. The 2nd night then...when we returned tired from our celebrations in the city at about 11.30pm we found that we had to be moved as the heatin couldn't be fixed...again not even a sorry for the inconvenience...actually was suggested they were doing us a favour by moving us at this hour as the room was slightly bigger, when all we wanted was to get our head down for the night.
We stayed on 11th floor, on every floor there are vending machines, the one on our floor and on floors 8, 9 and 10 didnt work, so i had to travel to floor 7 for a bottle of water - not a massive inconvenience but it's the wee things in a hotel that make the difference. Also, another tip if you do plan to stay here, the door man who wags down taxis, tried relentlessly to sell us a trip in the roosevelt car for a flat rate of $25 for most journeys, he said this would be a good price and that we may be waiting up to 15mins for a taxi, knowing better that this was a rip off for the journey we were making we said no and wouldn't you know in a city full of taxi's, literally a minute later a taxi pulled up - again the little things make the difference.

I was able to check in quickly around 12:30 pm on a Saturday. Because I had downloaded the Roosevelt's app, I got free Wifi! The room was a decent size for NYC-it was only me so it was fine. I was on the 17th floor and even though I was across from the elevators, I heard no noise. The staff was very friendly and of course, the hotel is right near Grand Central Station. While I can't credit the hotel for this(or maybe knowing I am a big fan- they arranged this just for me), signs for filming of Person of Interest went up on Sunday behind the hotel so on Monday, I was able to see the set-up and some filming of the show including Michael Emerson and Jim Cavieziel

Elegant lobby. This beautiful hotel has a great bar with relaxing atmosphere. Extremely friendly personnel. In midtown New York but just a few blocks from Times Square and around the corner from Grand Central Station. The room was a bit small but bed was very comfortable.

Just a few blocks from Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall, this hotel is within walking distance of Times Square and the Museum Of Modern Art - the perfect location for a weekend get a way, the rooms are small but the lobby is grand and it has Starbucks

If you are staying for few days this hotel is in a great position. Walking distance to midtown, Central Park Area, Grand Central Station, Time Square's Area.

Hotel is a dated for sure.
Staff is been helpful during our stay.

We didn't have food in there so I can't tell but as I said it is great for walking around Manhattan midtown and uptown.

Overall a good experience and I would go back.
