Got a really good deal, staff friendly and helpful, room was bit run down and just looked shabby. Subway just down the block and Central Park is literally seconds away. Would not stay again as have reached the age where like things to be a bit of a higher standard! But if your young and on a tight budget it would be worth a go.

It was an option to stay in NY - cheap and location. But It needs a remodeling. The room not clean, the floor is dirty and irregular, I feel like a drunk walking in the room. The price was good but I 'm not come back to this hotel. Sorry. I was on room number 414.

Room Tip: If you have another option, but it on the final.

For what I was paying I was a little nervous about the hotel. When we got there it was a very pleasant surprise. The staff was very friendly and even let us check in early at no cost. The location is on the northern end of the park but close to two subway stop making it easy to access the City. It was clean. The only problem was the speed and size of the elevator but thats not really a huge deal. Next time I am in NYC I will give this hotel my considerations again.

Nice hotel, kind staff; good location right next to the Central Park and near 2 subway stations.
Rooms are little smaller, but nice and well equiped.
I really liked it and would definetely go back again.

We were not expecting much luxury in this hotel, but this was not what we had expected it to be. We slept in a small old room on the 7th floor: it is practically all bed and not so clean (would not walk barefoot on the carpet; small pieces of sand/dust (?) would stick to our feet). But that was not the problem. The problem was that we had to sleep all night long on top of the sheets and with the window open while it was snowing outside (snowflakes would fall into the room) because of the heater that couldn't be turned off. Actually, the heater was totally closed but it still was HOT; you couldn't touch the thing because you would burn your fingers. I complained about this several times, almost evey morning when I would drop the key of the room. The girl at the reception would tell us that she was sorry and she would send someone to fix it but it never got fixed. The 5th morning I asked her to change rooms; this was not possible because they were completely booked. I begged them to shut down the heater completely: not possible because then they had to shut down the heater from the whole building and because of the cold weather they would not do this. They told us to open the window and use the air conditioning: don't know what's worse: not being able to sleep because of the heat or because of the dust and noise from an AC. Also, dont be surprised when you hear loud noise in the middle of the night like someone's hitting a metal pipe with a hamer: boiler pipes clanging together. Awful!

When we made the reservation and got a good "deal" on aroom at Central Park, figured it would be less than impressive. It's location being close to the subway, clean and efficent room overlooking the park and a lovely newly remodeled bathroom made us smile. We really didn't expect that! Though it came with no ammenities such as breakfast or coffee pot, ice machine on the same floor...we slept very well and the little corner store was very New Yorker for our morning coffee and warm blueberry muffin. We were giddy and happy for the three nights/four days we were in NYC. It was quaint at best and perfectly fine for us.

Room Tip: In NYC as a visitor, your mainly out and aboutso room size not important. Ask for park view! The ki...

Very very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Although it is definitely not 5* it really does deserve a better rating. The rooms were very comfortable and roomy which fantastic bathroom facilities. The rooms were cleaned and beds made every day. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Bearing in the mind the cost I really wasn't expecting too much so was really surprised when we arrived. Fantastic location with the hotel right by Central Park and only a few blocks walk to the subway (15-20 mins to Greenwich). Great great great - can't recommend enough!

Room Tip: If you only need one bed (because you are travelling on your own or are a couple) then request a par...
