Nice hotel with a nice location at central park but slightly out of the big picture. Pleasant door and reception staff. Rooms clean and tidy. Worthwhile staying here if you dont mind a 10 to 15 minute subway ride into times square area. Would eat somewhere before returning to hotel area as for us we couldnt find much to eat in the area that suited. Only other negative was on a Sunday it was a struggle to get a subway back to hotel, limited service.

We loved our cute little room overlooking the brick wall next door. It was tiny but had everything we needed PLUS the location was brilliant.

Easy access to the subway meant day trips were easy and fast. Easy access to pizza delivery (huge huge huge!) meant great meals of famous NYC pizza.

Great place. Highly recommended for the price.

This hotel is in an awesome LOCAL neighborhood. People in the area are great. Lots of good happy hours on Amsterdam Avenue. Once you get past the shock of the crappy room size and TV the rest is fine. Unless you want to pay 250+ per night I would consider this room best in class. My room had a Central Park view which was nice.I payed 50$ a night for 2 1/2 star central park west hotel and got this from Hotwire.... The hotel room is small but SAFE and CLEAN with a COMFORTABLE BED!!!! For a BALLER ON A BUDGET TYPE ROOM CHOOSE THIS HOTEL!!!!!!!

I'm giving this place a good rating opposed to average for a few reasons. The rooms themselves are definitely on the needs updating end of the spectrum, especially the tiny television with weird reception. That being said the actual room was always clean, and our shower was strong and hot. The room was cold at first, but since I live in an older building myself I realized they just had the radiators closed, it was fine actually a little too warm after that. The location itself was a big plus for me. The subway was a block and a half away for the b, and d trains and about four blocks either east or west for the 1,2. There were tons of restaurants on Columbus and Broadway and at much more reasonable prices than you'd find midtown. I guess depending on your comfort on public transportation and what you wanted to do the distance might be an issue. However since I live in another major city a twenty minute subway ride was no big deal to me.

This hotel was a little bit away from most of the attractions but a simple subway ride each morning made it easily accessible. The room itself had a superking bed, but wasn't a large room in any way - but then most rooms in NY aren't too big anyway! We stayed here for 4 nts in Dec and the only problem we had was with the bathroom almost flooding when we flushed the loo! After complaining this was sorted eventually. A plus point for us was the view - lovely to get up in the morning and watch folks out jogging, dog-walking etc, and in Dec there is a massive hut across the road selling Christmas trees and holly wreaths which just reminds you of the wonderful time of year it is. Returning in the evening, we either used our free pass from the hop on hop off buses, or got a cab. We never paid more than $15 and that was with quite a generous tip.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking central park

if you want a hotel in a not-so-touristy- area, that´s the palce to be. Good service, fantastic view to the central park. Helpful Staff. Delivery service from delis and cafés surrounding. Perfect for a couple.

I can't believe anyone would complain about this hotel. Reviews should be based on a function of price for what you get. I stayed at a reasonable rate. You can walk to the 103st subway, and for me I can get on the B train and get right to work while i'm staying in NYC. My room was quiet, and just big enough to move around and not feel too cramped. You can find food just two blocks west of the hotel. There is a bunch of deli/grocery stores, some chinese, and a nice "hole in the wall" bar.

No complaints for the price. If my bed is clean, and the bathroom is spotless. I'm good!

Room Tip: If you need a quiet room ask for the "back" and higher floor - if you want a view of centr...
