“Good hotel for leisure trips”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2014

The hotel is in a great location, the rooms are OK (bathrooms need a refurb) and the breakfast also nice. It's good value for money in NYC. However if you know the Radisson Blu hotels in Europe, this hotel isn't of the same high standard. When I entered the hotel my first thought was that it feels like a Holiday Inn and funnily enough I was told that it used to be a HI some years ago. If you are going on a sightseeing trip and not planning to spend all day at the hotel, then I can definitely recommend the hotel.

I stayed at Radisson Martinique in December 2013 with my friend for 5 nights. The hotel has a perfect location, it's right in the middle of everything! Walking distance to the Times Square, Macy's, Penn station and some of the famous avenues as well as nearby restaurants and shops. The room was on the 2nd floor with a lovely view; room was spacious enough and clean with regular coffee and milk supplies for the coffee machine.

As a silver member of Radisson Club Carlson, I opted to stay at this historical hotel. Hotel location is excellent, as you are in the middle of every thing.

My check-in was simple and easy. Had a room at the PH2 floor, which is the most top floor, so you expect to have a great view. Actually, I could only see a slim part of the Empire State Bldg, while bending my neck to the max! The room had no fridge or minibar!!!

The hotel had one of three elevators under maintenance, so guest literally queued to reach their floors. But the main issue is that many airliners board their crew at the Martinique so the lobby is always crowded, and the entrance is jammed with the fleet smoking. Not the best scene.

Should have been a better stay. Would not go there again.

Room Tip: room 1803, on the top with a very slim view.

We stayed at the Martinique while on our first ever vacation in NYC. We were lucky enough to get an upgrade to a suite, so our room experience might be better than the average person's. We found the check in process to go extremely well. We were early, so we had to leave the luggage with the hotel, and that went great. The room (suite) was huge and the bed very comfortable. The window was rather small, so the subsequent view was nothing much. We found all of the people working at the hotel to be very helpful and friendly. Location is at the bottom end of downtown proper and easy access to the subways.

Room Tip: Smile at the staff - it helps. Ask for an upgrade.

This hotel is conveniently located to all sites, subway entrance is just steps from the entrance. Room was clean and definitely large enough for the two of us, coffee in the room, and bottled water. Concierge was excellent, gave us all the information we needed, no problem with front desk, very accommodating. Would definitely recommend to others. Took the shuttle from LGA airport, made several stops, but we were in no hurry, took cab back to airport.

Not overly impressed here for the price paid. Room was spacious and fairly clean. Nice cental location to sites. Staff not overly helpful or friendly. Room on a floor under remodel although room seemed finished until I noticed No fridge & No microwave available in room. Bed uncomfortable.

Greetings from New York City,

Thank you for sharing your comments with us. It is nice to hear you enjoyed your guestroom and location.

Our rooms typically do not offer refrigerators or microwaves; however they are available on a request basis. Currently our hotel upgrade project is the installation of our new hallway wallpaper. This project does not directly affect any sleeping accommodations.

We are truly sorry you were uncomfortable on our recently upgraded EverNu Simmons mattresses. They provide additional plushness and support when compared to our previous offering.

If your plans bring you back to NYC, we welcome you to contact us so we may discuss your accommodations in detail.

Warm regards,
Tara Williams
Radisson Martinique Management Team.

Being a Radisson hotel, we knew we would be getting quality and we did. Really nice hotel. Conveniently located in Herald square with easy access to the subway system. Right around the corner - about 2 blocks walk from the Empire State Building, a 5/10 minute walk from Macy's and Madison Square Garden & about a 20 minute walk to Times Square.

Rooms were small enough in comparison to other hotels we stayed in- but it seems in NYC you pay for space. Not that this was a problem for us but just something that you might want to be aware of if considering this hotel.
The double room was standard.

Coffee making facilities as well as an in room safe, ironing board and iron.

There is a business centre there for use, the hotel offers free wi-fi - something which can be surprisingly hard to come by in the states - and a bag holding service should you find yourself with an hour or two to kill before heading to the airport. $1/bag.

For the price we paid for 5 nights and the location it was in, it was a steal. I'd definitely stay here again if I got a good deal on it.

My only fault was that we were asked for a $250 security deposit ($50/night) when checking in. While there wasn't a problem with it, I think $250 dollars is a bit steep for a security deposit/hold. Most other hotels we stayed in only charged $50. This may be the standard fee in NYC but I just wanted to make readers aware of this.

Genuinely, though, you should really consider this hotel. For whatever reason you find yourself in New York, this hotel serves as the perfect place to rest your head at the end of the day.
