When I tried to check in with a confirmed reservation they denied me a room and forced me to wait several hours to sort out their mistake.

The manager is very unhelpful and I suspect dishonest. I would not stay at this hotel despite its convenient location.

We stayed for 5 nights from 7th January 2011, we were made welcome and room was clean, the best part was the location in the heart of midtown, so central to major sight seeing attractions.
Complimentry breakfast was a bonus, and staff were polite, although by day 5 was muffined out!
Would definately recommend for short stay if wanting to use subway or wanting to walk around to attractions.
Also the view from the roof terrace of empire state building is well worth a look and a photo opportunity.

Location is the one thing this hotel has going for it. The location is great between 5th & 6th Avenue and the subway at the end of the road. Rooms we a bit lacking and when we were there they were having a lot of issues with the elevators with one of them being out of order on and off for a few days and the service elevator being stuck outside our room beeping all the time was a bit of a pain. Room was also very noisy and couldn't use the heater in the room because of the noise it gave off. Good for a shopping trip for a few days but if your staying any longer it could start to drive you a bit nuts. Also had issue with the Concierge who told the girlfriend that he had tickets for the basketball. She'd said the date we would arrive and had agreed it was ok to pick them up when we arrived but when we got there he had sold them the day before. Girls on the desk were very helpfull. Also the Bar was very expensive i had 2 beers one night and it came to $18, hotel bar over the road i got 4 beers for the same price.

This hotel is perfect if you want to be between 5th Avenue and Broadway, Central Park a few blocks away and Grand Central Station also short walk. Shopping on doorstop. We walked to Financial district and took us a nice sightseeing hour from the hotel.
The hotel itself is clean and comfortable ,breakfast is enough to keep you going bagels, toast, cheese fruit and cereal and free tea and coffee all day.
Theres one thing that lets this lovely central hotel down and unfortunately its the staff or 90% of them very rude and unhelpful, only one receptionist was really nice and 1 doorman who was nice. Dont bother with the conceige!
Having said that if i was returning to new york i would go back as the location is fantasic!

Decent sized room, though a tad old fashioned. Very clean and warm - radiator which you can adjust yourself! Ideal! Great location and rooftop view of Empire State. Pleasantly surprised with the continental breakfast which most hotels do not include as standard. Highly recommend if you are not expecting the Plaza!

Good location. Small but nice rooms.Very noisy rooms due to paper thin walls. Very unhelpful hotel staff. We bought broadway tickets from the front desk agent and he blatently lied about ticket availability and charged us double face value
