“Brilliant location”
Reviewed April 11, 2014

Spent a few nights here with my niece on our first trip to new york. Firstly, the location is FAB! Round the corner from the ESB, Macy's at the end of the road, a 10 minute stroll to Times Square and Broadway, and 15 mins in the other direction to Grand Central Station and Bloomingdales. The hotel itself was lovely, the roof terrace was amazing with the view for the ESB. I was disappointed when booking the room as all the 'double doubles' were full, so we were told we would have a twin... but being America even the twin beds were the same as the UK doubles so the room was spacious, comfortable and certainly value for money. The only let down on this hotel was the breakfast. There was toast, muffins and danishes, yoghurt and cereal which was basic but sufficient. The issue was the amount of room. On two mornings we had to take our breakfast up to our room as all the seats were full. It would have been nice to have been offered pancakes or something hot and to have had the room to enjoy breakfast. But this does not put me off returning again as the location was amazing. Staff were really helpful and friends.

Room Tip: We had a room on the 4th floor, no view but very quiet.

Myself and my wife stayed here on a late honeymoon break end of march/ begginning of april for 5 nights. The staff were helpful and friendly and the hotel itself was very clean. Our room was perfect size for what we needed from New york, serviced daily and always clean, the bed was fantastically comfortable, heating and air con were easy to work and had all the amenities that you would expect plus it was very quiet so we had no problems at all sleeping. As the hotel knew it was our honeymoon they very kindly left a free bottle of wine on ice for when we arrived which was generous and greatly received.

The view on the rooftop is fantastic, although the bar was not open and it was too cold for us to sit out and have a drink. The View of the Empire state at night is amazing.

Breakfast was great, we were usually down before 8am and there was always plenty of bagels, croissants etc available which we usually took back to eat in the room.

I would definetely recommend this hoteland will be staying here when we return to new york in the future, aswell as being a great hotel it has a fantastic location, with empire state, times square, madison square garden and macys all within close distance.

The hotel was brilliant, not too large and the rooms were a lovely size. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was very clean and serviced every day. The room had no view, just looked out to walls but we were not in the room for the view just to sleep which we did well as it was very quiet. We were on the 5th Floor just outside the lift but didn't hear anything once inside our room. The bathroom was very large with good amenities. The breakfast in the hotel was a real bonus. We were usually down before 7am and had not problems finid a seat. Lots of bagels, bread, muffins, yoghurts and fruit. Was great to have this included as it kept us going form most of the day so we culd enjoy eating ut in the evening. The hotel is a 2 minute walk from Macy's and 5 minutes from the Empire State and Times Square so an excellent location. Close enough to get to everything easily but avoided the noise. I wulod definitely recommend this hotel and would return. I went with my daughter and we felt extremely safe which was a concern before we went. We travelled with Virgin and I would not choose to travel with them again though as had no contact from a Rep unless we contracted them and I ordered tickets for buses and excursions which we had to go to the ticket office and pick up anyway. They charged a big mark up for this and it was a total waste of money. Food on the plane there and back was virtually inedible if you are a vegetarian so would advise getting some snacks of your own. Overall a brilliant holiday though.

My husband and I stayed in the metro hotel in march 2014. It was our first time in New York so we were a little nervous about where to stay and what it was going to be like. The hotel was very welcoming on arrival and throughout our six day stay. The bed was very comfortable and spotlessly clean, the bathroom was lovely with a large shower. We did upgrade from a normal room to a queen room at time of booking as it was only about £42.00 extra so it may be worth thinking about. We had a safe in the closet which was free. The complementary breakfast was cereal, toast, muffins, fruit, yoghurt and pastries with coffee, tea or a selection of juices. The tea and coffee were complementary all day and night so when you come in from having a heavy day of walking and sight seeing, you could just help yourself. The Metro is in a great position of New York and easy to get anywhere. I would highly recommend this hotel We loved it and would go back in a heart beat.

Room Tip: upgrade because it doesn't cost that much more and our room was lovely.

We arrived on tuesday and was greeted at the front door by the concierge who is a very knowledgable person. The hotel, on 35th st, is right in the thick of it. We didnt fancy the underground transport so walked to most places. Times sq-10 mins, circleline sightseeing boat tour 30 mins, macys at the end of the street and restaurants and pubs all around. This hotel can be a bit noisy if your room is at the front of the hotel but other than that it was excellent. Go to the penthouse bar on top of the hotel, accessable by lift and you can almost touch the empire state building which we visited at night. We visited the rockerfeller centre in daylight for beautiful views across the length of central park. The restaurants and cafes are marked for cleanliness and value. A being the best and E, well dont even go there. I wouldnt advise going to the numerous street vendors as they dissapear in the nearest restroom and are back out again prietty prompt so handwashing is obviously not top of their agenda.
We also did the bus tour with the Big Red Bus Company which starts at Times Sq. downtown in the morning hopping off at the new Freedom Tower and Ground Zero then getting back on the next available bus back to TS. After lunch we went uptown driving around Harlem etc and getting off at Central Park for a walk around. Again got a later bus back to TS

From the moment we walked through the front doors we knew this hotel would be perfect. We arrived early and our bags were securely stored while we explored NYC. The hotel is a stones throw from Macy's, Empire State Building and Times Square, so the perfect location. Didn't expect breakfast but with a choice if cereal, fruit, yoghurt, pastries, bagels and muffins you would be pushed not to find something suitable. Tea/coffee are on tap 24/7. Hotel was very clean , staff constantly cleaning the public areas and Very helpful, from the doorman and reception staff to the guy who came up to turn on the roof lights, plus a guide to the sights from the roof. A bottle of champagne on ice for our anniversary was a welcoming touch too. Hope we can return soon. Although we had no view from our room it wasn't a problem as we didn't spend much time in it, if you were, then request a window view. Highly recommended.
