I spend a week from the 8th of November 2013 this was my second visit . I was visiting Nrw York again with my 10 year old Daughter , on arrival was upgraded , room had a fridge and coffee machine which was new to my last visit. Again staff was very friendly, and the same doorman was there from my last visit four yrs ago. Breakfast very good never disappointed nice bagels fruit cereal and muffins oh and yogurts. Always hot coffee to go. So easy to get to places from the Metro and subway right outside. I already planning to visit Metro again in 2 yrs time x x

I took my mom to NYC for her birthday and we stayed at this hotel. Fortunately, we booked a room type that was on a high floor (10th floor) because even at the height, the noise from the street could be heard. I cannot even imagine how loud it was on the floors closer to the street. Definitely request a room in the back if you can.

For the money, this hotel is a great value. Wonderful location, close to the theater district, the empire state building and many other great NYC attractions. Cabs were easy to get and there is a subway stop just down the block at Herald Square.

Free breakfast was fine, nothing spectacular but again, it was free, a rarity in NYC.

Would definitely recommend IF you can get a room up high or not street facing.

Room Tip: Up high or not street facing

Absolutely fantastic hotel decorated in a wonderful Art Deco style. This was a second honeymoon for us and the hotel really made it complete. We were in room 616, no views but beautifully decorated and quite spacious with a small fridge. A complementary bottle of bubbly was waiting on our arrival which was so nice. The hotel had been quick to respond to a couple of emails beforehand. Lovely rooftop terrace with views of the Empire State and Macy's. Great location for shopping, Times Square and subway links. We used the LIRR to get there from JFK and the subway to get back- both were easy to get to from the Hotel. Friendly, helpful staff, great breakfast and a nice meal in the Grill. Room cleaned well and a very comfy bed. Would definitely go back-fantastic!

Just stayed here for 5 nights and it does the job bearing in mind you probably won't be there too much. Hotel was in a great location near the Subway and main shops/attractions. Staff were great and the complimentary breakfast did the job to start the day. Our room was a bit small compared to others we saw however considering you are hardly there as NY has so much to offer it wasn't too much of a concern. Would probably stay there again.

We stayed for 4 nights from 5th Novmber 2013. We were here for my 50th birthday with my husband, sister in law and her husband.. I am a travel agent so had done my research and previously booked lots of clients to this hotel. Location is fantastic for empire state building and times square. Our rooms were upgraded and I received chocolates and a card, the breakast was very good and just what we needed for a busy day in New York. The view from the roof top terrace was amazing!!! The staff were excellent and very friendly. We had the best time ever and did not want to return home. All four of us will be back again and will definatley be staying at the Hotel Metro..

This hotel is very well placed for manhatans attractions - one street from empire state building - same for macys , 10 minutes stroll to madison sq garden and PENN St station . Yes there is a building site on 36 th street but I have to say we didnt notice it at all .
The staff - all included were brilliant - nothing you can ask is too much , free tour guide in the doorman even!
The breakfast is a good added bonus , nothing special but as good a continental bufffet as we have had anywhere .
We were lucky enough to have been upgraded to a suite as the manager knew it was a special event for us - my retirement. The bedroom excellent , clean linen every day , lovely comfy bed - not a single thing to complain about . Cant say any more really.
The rooftop bar was not used - it being a very cold November but its got a great view of the Empire state building if nothing else - especially at night .
If you want a good quality hotel , easy to get to from the train, and within easy access to broadway etc this is the place , we couldnt have done better . will recommend it - and would use again should we return to new york .

Room Tip: get a room facing onto 35th street - the front if the building work is still ongoing at the back...
