“Can't wait to return!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2013

This was our 4th time staying at Hotel Metro in April 2013 and our best to date. Staff are as always friendly and professional and willing to help out with any need and its great to see the same faces working there, really helps to make you feel like a home away from home.

Our room was of an excellent standard, as always, and the note in our room welcoming us as we are part of the facebook family was a nice wee touch. Breakfast being included sets you up for the day ahead and with the hotel in a prime location mid town for all the sights you don't have to wonder far.

This is a must stay hotel for new and regular visitors to NYC. We'll be back for sure again and can't wait for that day to come.

Room Tip: All the rooms we have been in have been nice but if you can go for a big bed size as it helps rest y...

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon in April. The hotel is in a great location, ideally situated (although my husband may disagree) between Macy's and 5th Avenue, and a minute's walk from Herald Square subway. It's a lovely art deco style hotel which an attractive foyer and a nice restaurant, the Metro Grill, which we ate in our first night. We were on the Penthouse level and were pleasantly surprised by how spacious the room was. The bed was really comfortable, and the bathroom was great - loved the monsoon shower and the products were nice.
The rooftop bar wasn't open as it was off season, but the views of the Empire State are amazing so it'd be great to have a drink on there on a summer's evening. There's a nice looking gym (didn't actually use it) and a good concierge service. There's also a good self-serve continental breakfast (cereal/bread/muffins) which although fairly basic sets you up for the day.
We thought we'd just use our New York hotel as a base so didn't really expect all that much from it, but we really enjoyed our stay and couldn't fault it in terms of comfort and location. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Seriously what a great hotel.

It has a great central location (literally a stones throw for Macy's and the subway), loved the roof terrace and the great view of the Empire State Buidling. Breakfast was also included in the room price, lots of variety and plenty to set you up for the day. Our room was lovely, really comfy bed etc. And free Wi-Fi too. There was also a gym onsite but there was no time for that.

My only critique was we had a street facing room on the 4th floor and generally it was pretty noisy. The first night I got woken at 2.30am by what sounded like the continous noise of street cleaners and garbage trucks. I'm not a particualy light sleeper but also got awoken very early a couple of days later by an articulated lorry parked out front. Request a non-street facing room and you'l love it!

Room Tip: Request a room that is not street facing (unless you sleep like the dead)

Family of 4 travelling to NYC for sightseeing. Based on TA reviews, decided to try a non-chain hotel in mid-town. What a great find. On a fairly quiet street (W 35th) for NYC, near Penn Station and Subway stations. A 1930’s ambience with clean, updated rooms and amenities. We booked the 2 room family suite, which was perfect for our family. Basically, two hotel rooms (one room – two double beds, second room – one king) and a luxury bathroom. Both rooms had flat panel TVs, closets, desks and refrigerators. Bathroom was luxurious with over-head, rain shower with upscale products. Mable foyer with carpeted rooms. Individual room temperate controls. Only down-side, no sitting area. Good quality continental breakfast, in dedicated dining rooms (tip: there is second dining area behind the coffee), included juice, coffee, NY bagels, cereal and muffins. Very busy in the morning. Hotel seems to cater to an international clientele, we felt like we were in Europe (very few English speaking guests – which was fun to experience!). Work out facilities were adequate, business center with PC access on 2nd floor. Free wi-fi appreciated!

Room Tip: Family suites were great. Higher floors are a little quieter. Several rooms per floor are directly...

My girlfriend and I very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel Metro. The location of the hotel is excellent, 1 block (2 mins walk) from the Empire State Building, 30 secs walk from Macys and subway station 30 secs walk away and lots of nice bars on the same street. All of the reception staff and concierge were always polite and very helpful. The doorman was always on hand to open doors and carry our bags. Each day our room was cleaned to a very high standard. We very much enjoyed the buffet breakfast which was always full and stocked up.The best meal I ate during my time in NYC was the NY strip steak and fries at the Metro Grill, which also offered great, friendly service at reasonable prices. And the view of the ESB from the rooftop terrace is amazing. The only issue I would have is that the rooftop bar was never open whilst we we there. If I ever go back to NYC (which i very much hope to do) I will definately be staying here again.
