The Hotel Metro is a right-priced spot for a Midtown stay. It's also a solid hotel. I stayed one Saturday night in January to attend a friend's 30th birthday and paid $150 odd for the experience + overnight parking. The room itself was center-city-small, which I didn't give two sods about given that I checked in, made a Joe with the in-room Keurig, bolted, then returned several hours later missing a shoe and with a large stain on my shirt. I happened to get upgraded, so the bathroom, with the most space dedicated to the shower, was large. The next morning, the rainshower head was an oasis in dessert. The shower stall also had these other jets that would catch you just so. I'm not sure which rooms have this multi-pronged shower attack and which don't.

There's an included continental breakfast, which is comprised of bagels, cereal, juice, coffee and the like. Wi-Fi is part of the deal, too. If you're going to park, there's a garage steps away. There was a discount of some sort for Metro guests. Penn Station is a couple blocks away if you're training it.

Apparently, there's a brilliant view of the Empire State Building from the hotel's rooftop terrace (and from many of the rooms). I believe the terrace was closed at the time, but someone who took more scrupulous notes would know for sure.

Wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Hotel Metro again.

We stayed here in early March (mainly on the recommendation of TripAdvisor comments) and it didn't disappoint! Fantastic central location, helpful staff (many thanks to the concierge for the Macy's discount voucher as my luggage got lost and arrived 36 hours after I did). The room was clean and a good size, however we didn't like the 4 foot beds. Breakfast was awesome - the selection of muffins was great and there was a good choice, Only complaint was that there weren't enough tables in the breakfast room, we went down to breakfast early, but still often had to sit on a sofa to eat, later on the room was packed. We really liked the all day tea and coffee laid on in the breakfast room.
Our flight home was late in the day so it was great to be able to leave our luggage in the secure store at the hotel while we enjoyed our last day in the city.
Will definitely be saving my pennies for a return trip.

From the moment we stepped foot in the hotel, we were greeted by staff with an extremely warm welcome. Enjoyable stay, great price, great rooms, breakfast was perfect and it was close to everything we needed. Would definitely return here!

Best hotel in NYC by miles. Our second time and it keeps getting better and better. Room was upgraded on arrival. After a check in on Facebook we also returned to a handwritten note thanking us for being part of their Facebook family. This hotel sits a block from Macy's, a block from 5th Avenue, a block from the Empire State and 2 blocks from Broadway. What is it they say...location location location! Lovely continental breakfast sets you up each day, along with free coffee throughout your stay. Do not think about staying anywhere else folks, this hotel has it all.

We chose the location to be near the subway and Macy's and its just perfect. We arrived earlier than the official check however the room was ready so we were given the keys immediately. The reception staff are very polite and helpful. Our room was bigger than most we have had in NYC. Clean, extremely comfortable bed and pillows and friendly cleaning staff. There are toiletries provided, a free safe and good storage. Breakfast is included from 6.30am to 11am and there is also complimentary tea and coffee all day. Breakfast included: bagels, toast, pastries, juice, yogurt, coffee and tea and cereals. We needed help with an issue back home and needed to fax something and the staff took care of this quickly. I managed to lock the safe without reading the instructions and had to ring for help and the maintenance guy was at the room in less than 5 minutes. There is a great view of the empire states building from the penthouse roof terrace. The hotel has handicapped access which was great for me with a fractured elbow and ribs. The subway is on the same street, less than 3 mins walk. We will stay here again.

Room Tip: We had 308, it has no view but its a nice room
