Our family of four has stayed here for our semi-annual NYC outing for the past six years. The family suites are ideal; main room has two double beds and bedroom has queen, small bath but very clean. Choose one of the upper floor rooms which have been recently updated. Breakfast fills the need and is convenient. Restaurant is good and reasonably priced. Lots of good places to eat in the neighborhood and lots of delivery options. Easy walk to theater district. Staff is friendly and helpful. Our daughters would not hear of staying anywhere else. We have recommended Hotel Metro to many friends and all have had a good experience. We are returning the day after Christmas.

Chose Hotel Metro because of good reviews, free breakfast and location. First impressions were very good but room 206 has a very noisy extractor fan right outside the window therefore got no sleep on our first night. Asked to move rooms and this was dealt with very courteously and efficiently. No further complaints about our new room infact bed was very comfy and room was very clean. Breakfast was perfectly adequate although extra seating area would have been appreciated. Free tea and coffee great. Rooftop bar great views although a little expensive. Location was outstanding.

Room Tip: Level 2 had major air conditioning noise. Level 7 was much better.

Chose hotel Metro due to other reviews and the fact that you got breakfast. On first impressions thought neighbourhood was a bit dirty and once inside hotel thought I had made a mistake as was not impressed we also had to wait for our room and had to ask 3 times how long it would take after 12 hours travelling this was after 4pm. Reception staff very miserable except
one young male staff as was concierge.
However after the first night started to like the hotel especially the location. The rooms were very clean. Breakfast was adequate. The rooftop bar had a great view of the Empire state building but 27 dollars for 2 drinks in plastic glasses was a bit much . I absolutly loved New York and all of the attractions. Went to see a fab musical Porgy and Bess
One of the Doormen in the hotel Matthew was very helpful

Room Tip: High floor

The hotel was quite nice, very clean and staffed with helpful people. Also, well soundproofed. But the breakfast needs a definite improvement and so does the restaurant of the hotel. Don't eat in the restaurant, there are plenty of better choices around! The street and surroundings are very safe, despite the heaps of garbage gathering from early afternoon onwards. And the subway station is actually 1 minute away. The location of the hotel is very good.

Room Tip: Choose a room on a higher level and at the back, you'll be away from the sound in the street.

We were lucky enough to stay 5 nights in an upgraded Premier room on the 10th floor. I was a little concerned at first given its close proximity to the lift but needn't have worried, I had the best sleep I've had in years, the beds are super comfy and the air conditioning works a treat. The shower with 3 different heads was amazing! The ladies do come around early to service the rooms, but that's what the 'do not disturb' sign is for, and the rooms are kept scrupulously clean. All the staff that we met were helpful, friendly and professional. The free wifi is a bonus which worked well and I also took advantage of the business centre facilities to print boarding passes.

The complimentary breakfast is set up as a buffet with lots of choice of different breads, toasts, pastries, bagels and cereals, also yoghurts and fresh fruit and juices. I have read some unflattering comments on the use of paper plates and cutlery, but it suited us just fine. It was just the job to set us up for a days sightseeing. If you prefer hot food there are plenty of reasonably priced diners in the area a short walk away.

As others have said, an absolutely perfect midtown location for exploring Manhattan and we will be sure to stay here again on our next trip to NYC.

Room Tip: It may be tempting to ask for a room with a view of the Empire State Building, but you can see that...

we had such a nice time here - the staff were great. Location was good (though it seems a bit grotty outside it is really handy for the underground, shopping and going down or uptown.

We had a family room which was brilliant. Clean, great beds and quite quiet (which for new york is amazing). Breakfasts were fine - nothing special but enough choice. Roof top terrace was great for the views and an evening drink or to sit out reading a book when our feet were too sore to walk anymore. Staff were helpful and all in all i would stay here again.

Room Tip: ask if you can have one of the rooms higher up (beyond floor 8) - think it's quieter (well as qu...

I have reviewed this hotel before, and it fails to disappoint. Stayed for just one night en route to Europe to celebrate our anniversary. The Metro gets it. As a repeat customer they upgraded us for free to the largest suite I have ever stayed in. No small feat to have a room that large in New York which included 2 very large flat screens, 2 couches, wet bar, and fridge. The bedroom was great, and the bed super comfortable.

If staying at the Metro a few things to note:

Request a Premier room, these are remodeled and much nicer rooms on the top 3 floors.

The rooftop bar has a great view, but has very limited hours that it's open.

As others have stated, great location, good breakfast, save money by prepaying in advance.
