“Would definitely go back”
Reviewed February 15, 2008

We got a fab deal through the BA website and spent a night here before we were due to fly back to the UK. We stayed with friends on the outskirts of NY for the rest of our stay but wanted an evening in Manhattan to have dinner etc. Other friends stayed in another 'top' hotel and payed at least double the price for what was only used as a 'bed for the night'.
The room was clean and staff helpful. We had to confirm our BA flights 24 hours before and so were able to confirm flights, book seats and print boarding passes all free of charge.
The free coffee and tea just off the lobby was a welcome treat as the snow fell in the city and the breakfast enough to keep us going until well after lunchtime!
Our only problem was getting a passing cab to take us to Grand Central to get the airport shuttle. We had to walk (with lots of luggage/shopping) to the main road to flag one down.
My mum got lots of 'Senior' discounts around the city without showing any ID. I got 11% off everything (including Sale prices) at Macy's just by going to the Visitor Centre on the first floor and showing ID.
A fabulous stay in NYC all round.

We wanted a hotel close to MSG. This was a perfect location.
Stayed here 2 years ago and liked and the price was good for a city hotel.
Clean,nice comp.breakfast.
Two things that bothered me- No doorman - door was heavy and there was quite abit of wind which made it hard to hold and the elevators were VERY VERY slow.

The hotel is very pretty inside and the people that work there are very nice. They go out of their way to help you with whatever you need. I had heard that the rooms in New York were small. They are small here too. The room I stayed in was perfect for one person. The Queen size bed was very comfortable. The whole room was very clean and well appointed. If you are looking for a luxory hotel, this is not it. However, if you are looking for a good hotel where you can feel safe and is central to downtown Manhattan, this is the one. I would most definitely stay here again.

I combed through all the Trip Advisor comments before booking at the Metro for July in New York. I'm writing this review to confirm that every good thing you've read is true. The hotel is chic, professional, clean, air-conditioned, convenient and good value for money. Even though I have friends in the New York area, I think I'll stay here in the future.

  • Liked — The style
  • Disliked — The fact that it costs several hundred dollars to stay anywhere in NY!

We stayed at the the Hotel Metro last week. Although not a luxury facility, the hotel was clean and had an air of sophistication. The staff was very pleasant. Ana Maria in the bar was particularly cordial. We would stay there again.

We booked this hotel on the BA website and was attracted by the price. We were not expecting much but were really suprised and pleased. The reception staff were friendly and even though we checked in early they had our room ready and had left a small gift as they knew it was my birthday. Some have commented on the size of the rooms but there was more then enough space. A queen bed, dressing table, a set of drawers, 2 bed side cabinets and a wardrobe big enough for clothes and 2 suitcases! The free safe is inside the wardrobe - which we had trouble working but someone arrived within 10 minutes to help! The view of the ESB from the roof top terrace was great. The hotel is in a great location, really central and close to Times Square. The sub-way is less then a minute from the hotel and a great way to get about. The breakfast was right up my street and certainly enough to keep you going to lunch, huge muffins, toast, bagels, cereal, fresh fruit with tea and coffee on tap all day. The reception staff were helpful and booked an attraction for us as well as arranging our return trip to the airport on the shuttle bus (slightly cheaper then getting a cab but just as good). This is a really great value for money hotel in a excellent location. Would stay here again and would happily recommend.

My wife and i stayed at the metro for four nights in early january. We mainly chose this hotel because it had been recomended by several of our friends who had stayed there before,We could not beileve how well located the hotel was with macy`s at one end of the street and the empire state building at the other end . As this was our first trip to nyc we could not have hoped for a better choice of accomodation . The staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us, We stayed
in a queen room which although they are not huge are very clean and tidy with a very comfortable bed , which after a day of hard shopping is a welcome relief. My wife and i will most definitely be staying here again on our next visit to the big apple.
