We stayed at the Metro Friday night and it was great! Very nice staff and clean! The rooms were very chic and modern with a Keruig coffee maker in you room and nice bathroom. My only complaint would be that the room was really small but since you are in NYC you really won't be spending too much time in your room! Also, the halls smelled funny, we were on the 10th floor. But other than that it was GREAT! There was also discounted parking nearby if you stayed at the Metro and a cool rooftop bar with a fantastic view of the Empire State building. The Metro also offers a very nice continental breakfast,

I stayed here with my boyfriend for 4 nights from 5-9 September 2011. On arrival, the receptionist was very welcoming and gave us lots of info on New York with a map etc. We were told we were "upgraded" to a room on the 12th floor...but this was not an upgrade at all! We had no view, just a brick wall, the room was clean but very old and dated and tiny! We expected the room to be smaller than usual but it really was small, we struggled for space the whole time. The air con was also very noisy. My boyfriend went exploring one morning and noticed that rooms from the 10th foor down had been refurbished so I guess we were just unlucky! The only good thing about the room was the fridge which came in very useful.

The breakfast was great, with bagels, muffins, cereal, yoghurt, pastries etc and free tea and coffee all day was very good.

The location was great, a 2 min walk to Macys, 15 min walk to Time Square and a 5 min walk to Empire State Buiding.

Overall, this is a great hotel for the location and free breakfast but the room really let it down.

I stayed at the Hotel Metro in August 2011 with my husband on honeymoon and highly recommend this hotel for anyone planning a stay in NYC. Before we went I had read plenty of stories about hotel rooms in NYC being tiny but this was not the case here. The rooms were a lovely size, especially given the amount of time you realistically spend there. The fridge in the room was a god send in the hot NewYork heat.

From the moment we arrived the staff and customer service was excellent. The gentleman on reception when we checked in spent time talking us through New York and how to get places and what to see. When we arrived in the room we found a nice honeymoon gift of chocolates and a kind note. We couldn't seem to work the instructions for the in-room safe but within 2 minutes of ringing down to reception they had sent someone up to sort it for us.

The location of the hotel is brilliant for any tourist. It is brilliantly located on the corner of the subway station and bang next door to Macys. There is plenty on your doorstep including the Empire State Building. The roof top bar is worth a stay at the Hotel Metro on its own. It offers a second to none view of the Empire State and definately was great on our first night there and our first taste of New York.

My husband used the gym every day and was impressed by the facilities. The breakfast was lovely and there was always plenty there and lots of choice. It was just what you needed before a long day sightseeing. The tea and coffee was available free all day which came in handy at the end of that long day too!!

The hotel staff were great at advice on the way round as was the concierge. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

I would definately recommend the Hotel Metro to anyone planning on a stay in New York and I will certainly be back there if I ever get the chance to go back to NYC.

Good hotel, a bit too pricey but in great location. The rooms are average, and no view from the windows. Breakfast is very poor.

Hi we recently made our first trip to NYC - booking this hotel on friends recommendation.. and it's easy to see why - wonderful staff, wonderful location - great period style decor. The amazing view of the Empire State building from the roof terrace bar was a great feature and the continental breakfast and complimentary tea and coffee all day long all added to make our stay entirely comfortable.... great welcome too as this was an anniversary trip. Thank you to all at Hotel Metro - we hope to see you again. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel at all...

Room Tip: We stayed in a room on an upper floor - which had recently been refurbished - lovely - we also had a...

I've just read the review from 126 Deb and had to laugh as it is almost identical to the review I was going to write. Myself and daughter also stayed at the Hotel Metro in August and arrived on the day of the earthquake, got stranded due to hurricane Irene for an extra 4 nights and was able to re-book our room which was brilliant, and could not fault the staff for making our stay stress-free. The hotel is in an excellent location and the continental breakfasts, tea and coffee are an added bonus. The rooms are clean and, although I didnot use the gym it looked excellent for any keep-fit fanatic. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and if I were to visit New York again I would definatley stay here.
