I was really pleasantly surprised by this hotel. We stayed there for 4 nights in August and booked it as a value option as we would be out a lot. It turned out to be a great hotel.

The hotels location was great for us - out of the way of the overly touristy center but only 2 short blocks to a subway station and a 10 minute walk to Grand Central Station.

Staff were friendly and the room was clean. We were on the 7th floor and it was very quiet.

Free WiFi in the room too was a bonus:-)

More or less all New York hotels are expensive but this hotel has ok prices. I would say it is a 2+ hotel. The room was quite big, not a modern look but it´s clean and has all the basics you need. AC and WiFi included.
Continental breakfast was also included and was ok with youghurt, cereals, bread, juice, coffee etc. However, plastic cutlery and plates gives it a cheap touch. The breakfastroom was mostly crowded with a bit too few seats.
Business center with two computers and a printer (no extra charge).
The location is ok quite close to Empire State Building etc. If you arrive or leave by train it´s a 15-20 minutes walk to Penn Station.
If you don´t expect luxury this hotel is a quite good deal.

The room was small but very clean. The staff were very helpful. There was a good choice of bakery products for breakfast. The free wifi was also useful. The hotel was a little way from the main NYC attractions but still within easy walking distance.

Location of the hotel is excellent being mid-town close to underground, also easy to reach from airport saving the taxi money :) Althogh we received a smoker room for the first night - even if we checked-in with an 11 year old child and not asking specifically for such a room since we do not smoke - once we asked to be moved, our request was answered and we reived a new room for the next 3 nights. We found the rooms clean, AC functioning well, people at reception willing to support and being very pleasant. Overall, a very good experience and we would choose this hotel again.

We stayed at the Ramada Eastside for six nights in July and can highly recommend the hotel. We found its location to be perfect: Not in the middle of the craziness of midtown Manhattan, but still close enough to major attractions. We could easily walk to most places in Midtown, and two subway stations are located conveniently close to the hotel, and there is a bus stop right in front of it. There are a number of shops and restaurants in the area, too (try Curry in a Hurry for a quick but very good meal, there's also a 7/11 and Starbucks nearby).
We stayed in a double queen room on the 6th floor, and the room was spacious enough for the four of us (2 adults, 2 teenagers). Everything including the bathroom was very clean and housekeeping did a very good job every day. The beds were really comfortable, too. The air conditioning is a bit noisy, yes, and there is a little noise from the street, but with ear plugs we really slept very well and were not bothered at all. There even was a fridge and a microwave which we had not requested.
Some people seem to complain about the elevators, we did not experience any difficulties with them at all and never had to wait long for one.
The free wifi did not work properly in our room, but it did in the lobby and in the breakfast room, so this didn't bother us.
The free breakfast is a real bonus. Although the choices are limited, the quality is fine and it's enough to keep you going for the morning. We liked that we didn't have to leave the hotel and look for somewhere (affordable, too) to have breakfast every morning. Much appreciated!
Staff were friendly and helpful.
We paid about $170 per night (excl. tax) for the four of us, so this is really a bargain considering the excellent location, the cleanliness and size of the room and the free breakfast. We booked our room on the Ramada website, as Ramada does not charge for children older than 12, while there is an extra fee if you book through the Applecore website. So if you're traveling with teenagers, go for the Ramada website.
We would certainly return to the Ramada Eastside should we travel to NYC again.

Room Tip: The rooms with numbers ending in 14 are a very good size for a family of four. Although close to the...
