The Hotel @ New York City
Ranked #321 of 470 Hotels in New York City
Reviewed August 15, 2013

We stayed at the Ramada Eastside for six nights in July and can highly recommend the hotel. We found its location to be perfect: Not in the middle of the craziness of midtown Manhattan, but still close enough to major attractions. We could easily walk to most places in Midtown, and two subway stations are located conveniently close to the hotel, and there is a bus stop right in front of it. There are a number of shops and restaurants in the area, too (try Curry in a Hurry for a quick but very good meal, there's also a 7/11 and Starbucks nearby).
We stayed in a double queen room on the 6th floor, and the room was spacious enough for the four of us (2 adults, 2 teenagers). Everything including the bathroom was very clean and housekeeping did a very good job every day. The beds were really comfortable, too. The air conditioning is a bit noisy, yes, and there is a little noise from the street, but with ear plugs we really slept very well and were not bothered at all. There even was a fridge and a microwave which we had not requested.
Some people seem to complain about the elevators, we did not experience any difficulties with them at all and never had to wait long for one.
The free wifi did not work properly in our room, but it did in the lobby and in the breakfast room, so this didn't bother us.
The free breakfast is a real bonus. Although the choices are limited, the quality is fine and it's enough to keep you going for the morning. We liked that we didn't have to leave the hotel and look for somewhere (affordable, too) to have breakfast every morning. Much appreciated!
Staff were friendly and helpful.
We paid about $170 per night (excl. tax) for the four of us, so this is really a bargain considering the excellent location, the cleanliness and size of the room and the free breakfast. We booked our room on the Ramada website, as Ramada does not charge for children older than 12, while there is an extra fee if you book through the Applecore website. So if you're traveling with teenagers, go for the Ramada website.
We would certainly return to the Ramada Eastside should we travel to NYC again.

Room Tip: The rooms with numbers ending in 14 are a very good size for a family of four. Although close to the...

Dear nouschka,
Thank you for your kind review. We’re glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you had a great time in New York City with your family. We apologize for the WIFI in your room. The entire hotel, including all the rooms should have free WIFI, so we will look into this issue.
We hope to welcome you again on your next trip to New York City.

Homey atmosphere, and we were surprised with the breakfast! such a delight!! the free telephone and free wifi are just what we wanted (this is super service in Manhattan), suits our very busy needs so much! Convenient to shopping area and church. We felt safe! WE WILL DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS TO FRIENDS AND RELATIVES & we'll be back same time next year. Hope you can maintain this service till our next trip! From Mr & Mrs Abiera - Hongkong

My wife and I took our italians relatives to New York for a few days when they visited us in Philadelphia. Finding a good hotel in Manhattan that does not break the bank is difficult. The Ramada New York/Eastside was what we needed...good beds, just enough amenities, clean, helpful staff and strategic location.

Also, parking for $25 a day close by the hotel.

Our stay here was wonderful! Fast easy check-in. Four of us were in a double queen room and we could all move around easily within the room at the same time. Comfortable clean beds & bathroom. Air conditioning properly functioned. The showers always provided hot water even after three other people showered ahead of me. Great location to subway stations. Very safe neighborhood. Primarily quiet. We stayed on the 11th floor, so maybe this helped eliminate some of the noise. I would recommend this affordable, nice, clean, friendly staff hotel to anyone visiting Manhattan. Will be back here to stay again if I'm ever in NY again.

The Ramada Eastside is not a budget Hotel but neither is it luxurious. The rooms are spacious and have a fridge and microwave. The beds are comfortable and staff were friendly and efficient. The only problem we encountered was that our a/c was not working properly. When my husband complained after we spent a sleepless, sweltering night he was immediately offered an alternative room. We were told to pack up, and all our belongings would be moved by the time we returned to the hotel that afternoon. We were also offered the use of a safety deposit box behind the front desk while the move took place. Apart from the inconvenience the problem was dealt with swiftly and to our satisfaction. The new room was lovely and cold,Much needed in the NY heatwave.I only wished we had said something after the first night and not waited until the second!.A basic but adequate breakfast is included in the price which we found helpful in keeping costs down in NY. All in all I would visit again.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper ask for a high floor. We were originally on floor 10 and could hear virtu...

We chose this hotel based on reading other peoples comments on Tripadviser. The staff were very polite and helpful. As my husband and I have already been to New York before and knew hotel room sizes were not always that big, we were really surprised how big the rooms were. Our room was clean and cool (after we turned the air conditioning up) and beds were comfortable. The location was good. We had read people saying the breakfast room wasn't that big. Yes, it was a bit small but we always managed to get a table every morning and the breakfast was good, as this was the first hotel in America we had stayed in that offered a complementery breakfast. Would stay here again.

This was a nice hotel, the room was clean and the staff were very accomodating. The only drawback was the elevator, hallways and lobby were not air conditioned and it was hot and humid in the city in July! But if you can get past this the rooms were beautifully airconditioned and very nice!!
