“Cheap, cheerful and great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013

Stayed at Ramada Eastside on Lexington for 3rd time on recent business trip. By New York standards it has a lot going for it at the price, its cheap the location is midtown, breakfast and free wi-fi are included. The bedroom is are nearly all taken up by the bed and the bathroom is fine. There is a small gym. The staff are efficient if not overly frienldy and the little Japanese restaurant across the street is great.

Room Tip: Try to have a room that is not on facing onto Lexington which can be very noisy

We were scheduled at another hotel, but the reservation somehow got canceled. AppleCore hotel group owns 5 properties and they placed us here instead. Turns out it was closer to MSG which worked out very well for us.
Hotel was small and cramped, but most NYC hotels are.
VERY clean, no signs of bedbugs or dirt, very comfy pillows and memory foam mattresses. Clean mold free bathroom. Good heat. (Windows opened on cold nights to help keep our beverages cold).
Front desk extremely friendly especially with assisting me to get my AAA discount even though I had left my card at home.

Definitely will return as food, market, diner, and even a nail and chair massage place are very close by.

Room Tip: We were directly behind the elevator and still heard no offending noises

You want the Waldorf, the Millenium or the Hyatt, be my guest. But you'll pay handsomely for staying at those big name, prominent address spots in Manhattan. If all you need is a room (because, let's face it, it's New York. How much time are you actually going to be spending inside your hotel?) then banking on a known chain at a terrific price makes sense.
The hotel is old - and if you're looking for an impressive lobby, go elsewhere (Except for the name on the awning, you might not even recognize it as a hotel). The rooms are small (more European than American) but very clean. The staff is friendly, the WiFi's free - and so is the breakfast (just cereal, pastries, fruit, yogurt, juice and coffee). No restaurant, no bar, no frills. Just a clean, pleasant room at a very reasonable price.

Room Tip: The higher your room the better. New York is the City that never sleeps - so the street noise goes...

Okay we're not at the Marriott, Hilton or Hyatt level here. On the other hand we are not taking chances with a no name roll of the dice. The Ramada Eastside is an old property but still is acceptable because it is so darn cheap and yet very clean. It is tough for me to stay at hotels where the bed is still covered by one of those satin style decorative bed covers that are meant to be rolled up by the hotel staff before guest use. Well here is the old style bed covers and if you want them off the bed, roll them up yourself. Okay not nice but when you get used to the fresh styles of better hotels, these old covers are hard to take and the only thing that makes me a little queazy. Outside of my bed cover phobia, the bedrooms are solid with the memory foam comfort and fresh linens. Everything else is really acceptable. No room service but restaurants are within two blocks like a pizza place, Chipotle and Cosi's. Want to have a beer or wine in the room? Pick up your your alcohol at the deli one block away. Bathrooms are okay other than the godforsaken massage style shower that in the end, limits a strong flow and should have been banned in the early 1990's. Breakfast is included in the continental style with a room off the lobby. It is okay with fruit yogurt cereal toast juice and coffee. The fact is you won't get grossed out here and when you pay the bill it will make you ask the question ..."is the slightly finer things offered at the typical 4 star in NYC reallly worth it"? The answer is probably no if you are trying to save some money. So as values go in NYC, this is a very good one.

Room Tip: Ask for a larger room floor plan if you are claustrophobic as these are old style New York city hot...

Ramada Eastside is a good choise in New York. Clean room, very good bed and plenty of hot water in the shower. Good service and a friendly staff. Breakfast included was ok. The hotel does not have a bar or another seating area. That is a drawback. Free wifi is great!

We stayed at the Ramada Eastside for 3 days.
It's not a fancy hotel and rooms are small but clean and well equipped.
Location is very good, 5 minutes walk to the closest subway station at 28th street.
Adequate free breakfast and free WiFi.
We would definitely stay here again.

We have recently returned from our 5 day honeymoon in New York. The hotel we stayed at was very clean and had very good service. The breakfast was basic but just what you needed to set you up for a day of sightseeing.
