Best hotel we have stayed at. Staff are friendly, patient and beyond helpful. It was really nice that they all remembered our names when they saw us. It isn't your usual anonymous, robotic chain hotel
Rooms are 'european' size but we were too busy exploring to mind. Decor is fresh and modern and there was a complimentary tea and coffee station on the 10th floor. Although we popped over the street to bagel express for breakfast.
Hotel is within walking distance to all the touristy bits, if you are fit and have good footwear!
All in all we loved it and can't wait to return.

We got a good rate over Thanksgiving weekend, and were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. However, the weather was unseasonably warm, and our room was quite hot when we checked in. We tried lowering the temperature using the thermostat, but while we set it to cool the room down to 68 degrees, there was only a tepid amount of cool air coming out of the vent. When we went out for the evening, we left the window open a crack (this is one of the few hotels where you can still actually open your windows!). We didn't leave the window open enough, and when we returned late that night, it was once again quite hot. We again tried to cool the room off, but the temperature actually kept rising instead of falling. By morning, it was a balmy 81 degrees in our room. I actually slept on top of the cover and sheets for most of the night.
The other problem we had was that our special weekend rate include a coupon for two drinks at the Polar Lounge, located underneath the hotel, or at Inoteca, the hotel bar (which you actually have to walk outside from the hotel lobby to get to!). When we got back to our room late that night we noticed a line of much younger people on the sidewalk, apparently waiting to get into the Polar Lounge. We called the front desk to ask if we had to wait to get into the place, and were told there was no wait, but there was a dress code, and no jeans or sneakers were allowed. We were also told we couldn't use our drink coupon at the hotel bar. Since we had only brought jeans to wear, we were out of luck.
To the hotel's credit, when we asked about this at the front desk in the morning, we were told we had been given incorrect information, and we could have used our drink coupon at the hotel bar. We were able to do so that afternoon before we left town, and had a nice, generous glass of wine there and ordered some delicious bruchetta to snack on.
The hotel doesn't give you a lot of towels (there's not much room for them in the bathroom), but gave us some extras when we asked, and when we broke a glass in our bathroom, someone came up promptly to clean the mess up.
There were two computers with free internet access in the guest lounge on the 10th floor. Except for the Saturday night front desk clerk who gave us bad information about our drink coupons, the service was friendly and efficient. But I wouldn't want to stay here in the summer unless I knew you could actually cool your room off!

Room Tip: Some of the rooms are about the size of a closet, so be warned!

We arrived the day before Hurricane Irene and were apprehensive aboout what the weather would be like. We had to move room on the second day due to water coming in through the ceiling and the hotel couldn't have been more accommodating.

They moved us to a superior room and did everything to ensure that our plans and our stay was disrupted as little as possible. Massive thanks go to all of the staff for makiing sure that we were happy with every part of our stay. This was exceptional customer service given that some staff couldn't even make it into Manhattan due to the weather conditions.

We've stayed here before and our experience made us want to come back here again. After the service we received this time, I don't think we'll stay in another hotel in New York. Given that we're now planning a trip back to NYC for New Year, you can stick your mortgage on where we will be staying.

Booked this hotel for its location for a meeting, and was initially impressed by the entrance and lobby. Great service, checked in just before midnight, the warm welcome did make a good start. Then it starts to go down hill from here. When asked for late check out, they only allow for 1pm instead, they start charging by the hour after that, not so friendly really (it's not like they are fully booked the next day, I checked).

Anyway, moving on, the room is tiny, is just a bed with no room for luggage, not to mention a closet. Once you have the luggage on the floor, you will have difficulty moving around in the room. Shower is also tiny, small sink and everything. Then there is no free internet, not even a bottle of water, they charge every single thing. This is not very helping for business traveller who arrives late after a long flight.

In conclusion, they only give a good image at the lobby, that's all you can expect here.
