Courtyard New York Manhattan/Times Square
Ranked #229 of 473 Hotels in New York City
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed September 24, 2012

It was our first trip to New York and we decided that this hotel would make the perfect base. How right we were. Located a short walk from Times Square you are close to the action but far enough away to be able to relax (a little). The Empire State Building (top tip: go when it opens to avoid the queues!) is also close by as is Macy's. There are also plenty of restaurants and cafes in the locality.

The hotel reception is welcoming and its cooling blast of air conditioning was looked forward to during a hot and humid August week. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. At busy times you may have to wait for an elevator. Having around 8 rooms on each floor, the hotel seemed quiet. The coffee/tea maker was excellent although if you like Tea, ask for extra supplies at reception as you'll find that coffee will be the main supply. The rooms have large flat screen TVs. Bathrooms are as you would expect following the recent renovation - clean and modern. We had two rooms, one had a bath with shower and the other one just a shower.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. All in all a pretty much perfect stay.

The front desk staff and the maid were friendly, pleasant and eager to please. The room was cleaned each day so that you could barely tell we had spent the previous night there. The bed and shower head were heavenly.

Our only complaint is that we requested early check-in on-line and by calling and they were not able to accomodate us. We arrived an hour later than we expected and were told to leave them our cell phone and they would call when the room was ready. The call never came and we landed up checking in around 5 or 6 PM.

Room Tip: The higher up you go in Manhattan the less traffic you hear below.

This was the first hotel we checked in on our US visit earlier this year... and we were really thrilled by the service we got. The reception was all warm. We needed an early check in and that was done without a second's delay.. Breakfast was swell and so were the rooms. Staff was courteous and responsive. The best was the concierge... he was witty, resourceful and ever so helpful. The rooms were spacious, fitted with all amenities, we had Wifi to boot, and the best part was that th elocation was fabulous.. all you had to do was put on ur shoes and walk a bit.. and u were in Times Sqaure.. what more could one ask for.

The position is fantastic, near Times Square and the Bryant Park, with many restaurants around and 2 station of the subway at the corners.
The room is good, quite modern and spacious, compared to other others in the area, but not really cheap, considering that the service is just acceptable, nothing special. Even if I am a gold member of Marriott, I didn't get any special treatment.
There is a small place to buy breakfast inside, but we preferred to go out every morning, the choice is wider and cheaper.

Room was well attended and appointed. The staff was helpful and showed a great attention for details. The front desk staff made sure to offer help to find and or set reservations for area restaurants. The location was SUPER convenient to lots of sights and shopping. Just a few blocks from Times Square, Macy's, Empire State Building, Radio City Music Hall and more, with a great benefit of a beautiful clean park behind the historic NY Library for a nice sit. HIGHLY recommend this hotel for the convenience and value.

By the normal Marriott standard, the room is extremely small. But I guess it's just the way it is in New York City. We were in the 18th floor, but did not stop the street construction noise in the middle of the night. It was well after 11pm and city construction was still going on. I would think noise insulation would have been better. That being said, the location is awesome. Everything is within walking distance. We took a taxi from the JFK for about $60. It's not bad considering there is a charge parking at the hotel

Would like to give a shout out of thanks to Trevon who works the PM shift at the front desk. He helped us pull off a surprise for our daughter's engagement this past weekend where he showed such class, professionalism, compassion, human kindness, quick thinking skills & great customer service! We are now officially hooked on this hotel & will stay nowhere else in our travels to NYC! Trevon, you are a rare breed in the service industry today--a cut above the rest! Thanks again for making our weekend so special!

Also, the hotel has been updated with new decor and the rooms are so beautiful, classy and fresh/clean! We have tried a myriad of NYC hotels but still like this the best for the price. Really nice rooms, good prices compared to other comparable hotels, great service, excellent location...what more do you want from a NYC hotel? Book a room here with assurance. You won't be sorry you did!
