“Mayfair Hotel near Times Sq.”
Reviewed October 17, 2011

Typical hotel, just at the center of Theater District, 100 m away from Times Sq. and Broadway.
Some subway stations of diff. lines are also on 2-3 minutes by step.
Rooms are tiny, just a narrow pass around the bed.
Free Internet access via 2 computers at the ground floor.

Stayed in this hotel for 5 nights-Mid Sept 2011. Tiny room, tiniest lift ever seen. The hotel is outdated and rooms are tired. But you're in NYC and we were tourists there, so were out most of the time. Feels really cramped in the beginning, but then you get used to it. Room had a window, but was blocked by a wooden slab, so we had no clue if it was day or night and no access to the open windows.Closet space was only used to store our shopping bags. Make sure to carry a spare footware, as the floor mats are not really clean. Ac quite noisy. Hotel staff, friendly, but you need to tip them regularly. The hotel charges for maintenance service, fuel and surcharge which we found quite strange. So get the room cleaned everyday because you are pating for it. While checking-out, hotel staff will suggest you a taxi service from their end to the airport (ours JFK), we got a limo, but make sure to verify prices with the hotel and the driver before you board. Its usually $50 to JFK, but we believed what the hotel staff said and had a bit of haggling to do at the airport, as the driver said it was $65.
Hotel so close to Times Square. Don't miss the Italian restaurant next to the hotel as you turn right at the exit, pricey, but really good.
Wi-fi doesn't work in the room most of the time, but then you have a computer near the reception which you can use.
Suggest this place if you prefer to stay close to Times square and not spend much time in the room.

I found my stay in the Mayfair Hotel New York great the staff are soo helpful and the location is excellent its soo close to Times Square and everything else. Even though it was close we didnt hear anything rooms are nice and quiet. Rooms are a bit small but bathroom is a good size but its everything you need in a hotel which is so central.

Loved it thank you

Room Tip: We were on the 6th floor and the room was small enough the guy at reception said he was going to put...

The location is fantastic and the rooms are OK as long as you as don't plan to stay in all the time. AC and ventilation quite noisy, bathrooms very nice. I had to change rooms because the door lock broke and that was handled very nicely. Staff over all very helpful. All in all: decent place to stay if you want to be in Midtown.

Upon entering the hotel your heart falls down your middle: Inconspicuous entrance, 5 stairs to overcome with your luggage and a smallish, rundown reception. Elevator tiny and rundown.
Luckily for us we have reserved a king size bed/room - it was big enough for 2! large and specious bathroom, not much closet space but we could live out of our suitcases. (had a glimpse into a regular room, it seemed a guest could either be on the bed or out the door..).

The room and bathroom were extremely clean!
Staff was friendly, funny and helpful 24/7.
Location - amazing!.
I would recommed this hotel, but feel that they charge TOO much for what its worth.

Room Tip: A king size room - a must.

The review title says it all. The location, within a couple of blocks of Times Square in the heart of Manhattan is fantastic. The room, however is not. I fully recognize that expectations must be realistic when thinking about staying in NYC, but $250/night for a 10x12 room that is dated is not acceptable.

If you have to pay $300-$350 for a decent room in the area (I know they are available), do it!

This hotel is tiny but mighty. If you're used to cruise ships and Europe, the rooms will suit you just fine. Quite an affordable price for being so incredibly well-located. I would recommend to any experienced traveler.

Room Tip: I enjoyed our room facing the front. It was fun to watch the world go by but still quiet enough beca...
