Other reviewers were right on, this hotel has a great location, great staff, clean, updated rooms and reasonable rates. I agree with others who say that you don’t need to stay in Timesquare – it is loud and way to touristy, but this hotel is a couple of blocks from the noise and is really centrally located in the city. We checked in around 9 pm and were given a room on the 6th floor. We found the street noise was waking us up at night, so asked to move to a higher floor the next morning. The front desk staff was very helpful, they found us a room on the 10th, at the back of the hotel and all we had to do was pack our bags up and the bellhop moved them when the new room was available. We found it much quieter on the 10th!

Staff was always very helpful, from the concierge who took the time to explain the subway system, to the front desk who replaced the printing cartridge in the business center printer in just 1 minute, to the bell man who stored our luggage after checkout and booked us a car to return to the airport (it was there exactly at the time we requested).

We found the location excellent, short walk to Timesquare, Theater District (some shows were right around the corner) and Rockefeller Center. There are many subway stations, one across the street, others within a short walk, so no matter which line you need to take, you should have no problem getting to a station.

There are a number of restaurants nearby. For breakfast we tried the one attached to the hotel (we had a full breakfast for $12, but you can also have the buffet for $19). The Olympia Diner (or Olympic?) across the street was much cheaper, fast service, but decor isn't as nice. Both are loud and busy, so we one morning we purchased fruit cups, yogurt and pastries from the "Food Emporium - Food to Go" on the corner and picked up some Starbucks coffee in the lobby. It was quite pleasant to have a quiet breakfast in the room. The rooms have empty bar fridges that you can stock up yourself from the lobby store or the "Food Emporium - Food to Go" on the corner.

We had dinner one night at the Pongsri Thai Restaurant around the corner (244 W 48th St) it was a tasty, very reasonably priced dinner (pad thai $10). Another night we ate at the Hurleys Saloon/Irish pub (225 W 48th St), the upstairs dining room had really nice Christmas lights in the window where we were seated which made it very festive. Food was good and reasonably priced, typical pub food.

We were very pleased with the hotel and the location, don't forget you can get 10% off your booking with Tripadviser - see the Book and Save at the top of the Tripadviser page for this hotel. Rates vary, so if you are flexible with your dates, you could get an excellent price for this great midtown hotel.

Room Tip: Higher floor, back of the hotel.

We just spent two nights during the Christmas holiday at the Hilton Garden Inn at Times Square. My family was totally satisfied with all aspects of our hotel stay, from the front desk, valet assistance, local parking next door, and the restaurant connected to the hotel. Overall, a very nice stay in a great location. We will use this hotel again. They are obviously trying to please and succeeding at it too.

Room Tip: The higher the better. This is NYC! But we never heard a thing on the 15th floor.

We stayed christmas night and we liked the hotel. The location is just a block off times square. Very safe area. Lots of restaurants. Very nice restaurant connected to hotel. Front desk and bellmen very very nice. Our room was nice, not much view but high enough no noise. Bathroom alittle small but fine. Bed was good. Overall it has everything you need. Great tv.

We recently stayed here for a 4 night trip with our children. The hotel is in an amazing location close to everything, we only got the subway once !! we could walk to Central Park, the Empire State and loads more. The hotel staff were so helpful especially Larry on the concierge desk he was fantastic and helped us loads xxx The breakfast in the resturant is out of this world I am still dreaming of the pancakes, bacon and syrup !!!!! The room was a good size and was quiet given its location. We would love to come and stay here again. Thank you xxxxx
