“Fantastic value right where we needed to be!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2011

Our stay in New York City was brief, so our hotel location was key. Times Square is definitely the happening part of town; close to World class shopping, Rockefeller Center, the theatre district, the Empire State Building and Central Park. The Hilton Garden Inn is within walking distance from all of these major attractions. The subway stations are also close, along with Grand Central station, should you care to venture further out of Manhattan.

We found the hotel to be exceptionally clean and well appointed, and felt safe and comfortable throughout our stay. Great value was everywhere; from the simpleness of complementary bottled water (two bottles) to the luxury of the adjustable Garden Sleep System king bed in our room. The bed was truly a joy, with the ability to vary the mattress comfort level side to side. We had the need to stay in touch with the workplace during our stay, so the free high speed Internet connection was well used and well appreciated. Housekeeping was readily available, the concierge services answered all of our questions and the staff was very well groomed, polite and helpful with every need. Just off the lobby, the Pigalle restaurant offered a full service menu of great food in a convenient location.

All expectations were met or exceeded, and at a very reasonable price for the downtown location. This hotel is truly ‘Everything, right where you need it’!

We had four nights at the Garden Inn and you cannot fault its location. On 8th Avenue, one block from Times Square and with easy access to the subway. The rooms are clean and comfortable and im told very big compared to other New York hotels. The hotel has all the usual facilities and the staff were friendly and helpful. Minor issue with the room was that they dont provide shower gel (mouthwash, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion yes) but hardly a biggie! The bed was very comfortable and provided more than enough room for my wife and i.

The only real downside was the amount of noise. Im not one to usually notice noise and it certainly didnt keep me awake at night but being at the front of the building on the fifth floor we could hear large trucks rumbling along the road and in particular the fire trucks with their horn/siren blaring from the nearby station. There was also the rumble and vibration of the subway trains that pass underneath. It wasnt a big thing but for me to comment on it at the time it must have been noticeable.

We had one dinner downstairs in the restaurant which was very nice and pretty reasonable. Also had breakfast in there on the last day and again this was decent. The little shop selling drinks, sweets and other disposables was very handy.

Overall a good hotel which i would consider using again if i return to New York.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel at the end of May 2011 for our 1 year anniversary. The hotel was clean, well kept and had slightly bigger rooms than some of the other hotels near Times Square. We liked the location the best. It was 1 block down and 1 block over from Times Square and a block down from some great restaurants. It is only a block or so from Broadway and close enough to walk to Central Park. The only thing we didn't like was the view. This is a smaller hotel and gets dwarfed by some of the bigger buildings, but this was not a deal breaker for us.

Stayed for 3 nights on a short break to New York. Location couldn't be better, easy to find from the Newark Airport bus drop off and right in the middle of theatre land. Walking distance to Central Park, Times Square and Broadway. Makes a great base for a short trip in New York as its also right by the subway so anywhere in Midtown, Uptown or Downtown is easy to get to,

Rooms were decent sized and the beds large and very comfortable, although you can hear the street noise (we were on the 6th floor) its not a big deal and certainly didn't keep us awake.

The free Starbucks coffee each morning is a nice touch.

Couldn't comment on the attached Pigalle restaurant as we didn't eat there but it looked pricey compared to other options, especially for breakfast where there are good diners nearby on 8th.

For New York it represents really good value and I'd definitely reccommend the Garden Inn.

Dear Wirrn,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent stay with us here at the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square! I am so happy to know that you enjoyed your stay with us and found the location to be perfect for your time in New York City. We are right in the center of the theater district, home to many of the great shows that make Broadway what it is! Also, being so close to Rockefeller Center, Restaurant Row, and the Empire State Building makes our hotel ideal for quick sightseeing trips. I would like to apologize for the slight disturbance from the street noise, but when your in the center of "the city that nevers sleeps", it tends to be a little busy. I hope that you wil stay with us again soon. Please do not hesitate to contact the hotel directly for any assistance prior to arriving to New York.

Warm Regards,

Nicole Cermele

I have stayed at the Times Sq HGI a number of times and have always enjoyed the hospitality and responsiveness of the staff there. Great location, close to theaters, restaurant row, etc. Also a very good onsite restaurant, Pigalle, (French Bistro).
