“Bigger than average NYC room”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

It was a good location for me - a fair walk from 42nd st though if that is important to you. The staff were pleasant and check in was drama-less thankfully. The in room dining was a little poor though - you are better off grabbing something from outside. On Saturday there was an average market on Broadway right next to hotel, running down to about 44th I believe. I was on the 11th floor, nice decor(if a little dark).

Dear QueenDP, thank you very much for your review. We are glad to hear your check-in process was smooth and to know that your encounter with our staff was positive. In regards to the in-room dining, I am very sorry to hear that the selection was not to your liking. We are currently still in the process of opening a new restaurant on site which will include a much greater variety of foods and beverages. We appreciate your time and will highly consider your review to continue to improve our facilities and services. We hope to see you again in the near future.

Kindest regards.

We stayed at the Ameritania our first time in NYC. This was during the holidays and we spent 5 days there, December 29 to January 1. We got to the hotel a good 4 hours before check in time and our room was not ready yet, however the hotel staff was so friendly and accomodating. They offered to hold our baggage until the room was ready so we decided to grab a bite to eat and walk around Times Square for an hour or two until we got a call that our room was ready. It was about an hour later that the call came and we went back to the hotel. We got the most amazing room on the top floor in the corner of the building. We were able to see Times Square from two angles. The room was VERY clean and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was newly remodeled. Bed was so comfortable that my husband kept saying that we need to find out where they get the pillows from so that we can purchase them for our house. I have only two things to note, that may have changed by now: 1 - the elevators are super slow. There's only about 8 floors in the building however it took about 5 minutes for the elevator to get to floor 8. 2 - there was alot of construction going on right next to the Ameritania which woke us up during the week. I imagine that the contruction is done by now and that problem has been resolved. We enjoyed staying here and would probably stay here again.

We stayed 8 nights at Ameritania starting 29th August 2012. Hotel has a superb location, only 5min walk to times square, and same for central park! Metro station is a 1 min walk!
Have to say, the first night we were assigned to room 304 (in the back of the hotel). It was horrible! After a long flight we were already awake for 24hours and still couldn't get any sleep because of all the noise outside (some airco unit producing a very annoying sound every half hour). Even earplugs didn't help! So for that room, and the window isolation...it's a big fail.

Next day we mentioned the noise in our room at the reception. They were really friendly and immediately booked us to another room. Our luggage would be waiting in our new room, all was taking care of!
Our new room (808) was stunning! Large windows, large room, view on broadway. Our say was superb! Quit room, very good beds (still miss that bed here!).
Same for the view at night. Will stay there again next time!

Room Tip: Ask a room on the street side! Rooms x08 have a double windows, stunning views guaranteed!

I stumbled upon the Ameritania in the Spring of 2012, as I planned a quick trip to NYC to take my 10yr old to his 1st Yankees game, and I have returned several times since. What a beautiful hotel, and a true hidden gem in the Times Square area.

Room Tip: Really, I've never had a bad room there.

We stayed at the Ameritania from the 5th to 12th September 2012. This hotel has a superb location being just a few minutes walk away from: Central Park and Times Square; restaurants; diners and shops. The hotel itself was quirky in its design, and although small, out hotel room was adequate in size, and had an effective air conditioning system. The bathroom was modern and well laid out. The standard of housekeeping all week was excellent and the hotel staff, from the manager to the doorman, couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was enjoyable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to New York.

We arrived at the hotel where doorman carried our suitcases straight up to the room asking if we needed any help with any transport home or anything else. The reception staff were very helpful during our stay (they do require a credit card to take a $30 deposit for damages which is given back after your stay). All the staff wished my sister a Happy 21st Birthday, we arrived into our room (#1001) to find it VERY clean and tidy and a bottle of champagne with a birthday note on the desk, very kind of them. We had a room overlooking Broadway aswell which was a free birthday upgrade.
House-keeping every day was very useful with new bottles of toiletries and towels.

Staff couldn't have been any more helpful.
Hotel less than 5 minutes from Times Square and close to most attractions.

Will defiantly be coming back to New York and use this hotel again.
Thanks again

Room Tip: #1001 had a good view. A/C gave a little noise but can be switched off if too much of a problem. Can...
