Ameritania Hotel
Ranked #125 of 469 Hotels in New York City
Reviewed July 13, 2012

Cannot recommend enough. Stop looking anywhere else and book at Ameritania Hotel.
I was looking at various hotels in NYC and NJ for my first trip to New York and it doesn't get any better than this.

Pros:
-Location, location, location! Only a 2 minutes walk from 42nd street or Central Park
-The price is right! Why bother with hotels in New Jersey when you get a much better deal here!
-Room service is fast and good
-Extra clean room
-Very courteous staff from bellman to front desk and even the maids

Cons:
-The AC stopped working at least 2 times during the night over 5 nights (that I noticed).
-You have to pay for wifi.

I think they understand very well that everything goes through customer satisfaction first.

Will book again in the next couple of months!

My stay at Ameritania Hotel was gorgeous! The location is amazing because all the great attractions (Times Square, 5th avenue, Broadway,...) are very near. Additionally, the personnel are very friendly and cooperative. Especially Mourad is a very pleasant staff.
Therefore, I recommend a stay at Ameritania Hotel.
Thanks a lot for the awesome impressions in New York!

The room is good, tv is good, but there is no coffee brewer in the room so we have to ask the staff at the lobby. That's disappointing.
After all, i also satisfied by the staff especially mourad, because he help my family a lot, about transportation and stuff.

This was our first trip to New York, and loved every second of it. Spent a bit of time looking into hotels, but as we would be spending minimal time there due to extensive sightseeing, it didnt really matter about extravagant luxury. After booking the hotel, thinking it was a 4* i realised it was classed as a 3* and started to worry it wouldnt be up to much, especially after reading reviews saying there was noise and dust due to renovation works, but we saw and heard none of it, so were either lucky or not over-reacting. Sure, we saw builders etc, but that certainly didn't spoil our experience.

The hotel is located on the corner of W54th and Broadway (just a few blocks up from Times Square and the next block up from the Letterman Show building) so travelling to attractions was simple, a short walk from Central Park, and just 15 mins or so to the shops of Fifth avenue.

The beds at the Ameritannia were incredible! So big and so comfy! The walk-in shower was great too, just what you need to wake you up for a long day of sightseeing!

The only thing that annoyed me about the hotel was the check-in security deposit required ($180!!) which was not advised at all at the time of booking. As i only wanted to bring essential things with me i left most cards etc at home in the UK, so i only had one debit card with me and my cash-passport card and cash for spending money. They took the $180 from the cash passport saying it would be refunded at check out, so i assumed it would be then free to use on the last day of our trip. We were told that it can take up to 5 days to re-appear on the card!! Best advice, budget an extra $180 dollars than you think you need, as you will be parted with some of your spending money otherwise!!

Room Tip: Does it really matter? You'll be out of the hotel all day!!

Dear Gary H, many great points you bring up, location is great, the beds are incredible and the bathrooms are amazing so thank you very much for sharing your experience with us. I also sincerely apologize if you were not aware of our deposit policy upon check-in, I can understand how a traveler on a budget can feel if one is does not know about, but it all comes down to the amenities we offer and the security deposit that we must collect as a policy. Please do not let that deter you from returning as we would honor to have you stay with us again. Please contact us directly on your next visit. Hope to see you soon.

Kindest regards.

My stay at Hotel Ameritania was excellent. The rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable. I priced several hotels in the area and found that Ameritania had the best value. The location was great. Times Square and other key locations were very close. The staff were great and professional. They made me feel welcomed as soon as I walked through the door. Excellent overall experience.

Outstanding location in the heart of the Theater District. We had an excellent time staying here during a weekend trip to NYC. The hotel is well decorated in art deco style and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. Very convenient to Times Square, Central Park and a multitude of dining and other entertainment venues. You can easily walk to everything. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Hotel is directly next to the "Late Show with David Letterman". Unfortunately, we there on the weekend, so couldn't try to get tickets. They have internet available, but charge for usage so we didn't utilized so can't comment on the speed. Overall, I would highly recommend the Ameritania for a very friendly and conveniently location to stay during your visit to the heart of New York City.
