“Great Value and Location..You just have to get over yourself!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2013

My wife and I stayed here for three nights while in town for the triathlon (weekend of July 13th and 14th). We were on a tight budget and this was the only hotel near Time Square anywhere near what we could afford. For the money, this hotel was outstanding. My guess is that most people who stay here, do so for the cost. So get over yourself! You are staying in the heart of Manhattan for an amazing rate (our room averaged $140.00 per night!!) The elevators are fast, the service was tremendous and the location was unbeatable. My wife accidentally left her phone on a luggage cart in the lobby, and the doorman was smart enough to open her screen and post on her Facebook page that she had lost her phone and the hotel had it. I had three calls to my cell phone within minutes. How cool and thinking outside the box was that for someone to do their job?? The rooms are old and dated and the air conditioners are loud. So what? If you're sitting in your room while visiting Manhattan, don't stay here. I would recommend this hotel, for the value, to anyone travelling to New York City on a budget. Great work Wellington!!

Room Tip: Just be ready to be in a small, older room. BE READY and you'll be fine. The key is that this ho...

The Wellington hotel could not be in a better location! As you step out the door there's central park to your right, and times square to your left. There is subway access right outside the hotel and my partner and I used it multiple times a day so it was great! The hotel is not modern but in my opinion very well kept. Staff are very friendly and hotel is very cosy! The bed was extremely comfortable and we were lucky enough to have a great view of times square from our window! I highly recommend using the hotel cafe for breakfast as it is very reasonable and the food is delicious! I definitely plan to stay at the Wellington hotel during my next trip to NYC which I hope to be very soon!

Room Tip: If you have the opportunity, try requesting a room with view of times square.

We chose this hotel for its' location but with hindsight, this was an error due to the poor standard of the hotel. By way of examples, the lift got stuck on arrival, there is a coffee maker but no coffee, creamer etc. There was a small kitchen and microwave but no cups, plates or cutlery. I rang housekeeping, and they said they only provided 2 glass beakers. The hot tap seemed to be welded shut, the shower tap fell off, the beds were not as ordered, the air conditioning was noisy.

The Wellington Hotel is in a fantastic location, you walk out of the door and look right and see Central Park and look left and Times Square is about a 10 minute walk. The reception staff are very friendly and full of great information you only need ask. The rooms were basic but clean although the bathrooms could do with updating. I have read other reviews and I believe some of the rooms on different floors have been renovated. We had a room with a balcony, bit too cold in December to use but amazing views morning and evening. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a clean room and a fantastic location.

Tips for New York - we prebooked tickets for Empire State Building, top of the rock, circle line cruise and skating in New York before we left the uk and avoided the hassle of queuing and went straight into the attractions. This was a bonus as it was busy in most places. We went up the rock in the morning to enjoy views of both the Empire State Building and Central Park. We found going up the Empire State Building just before sunset amazing, we enjoyed the seeng the sunset whilst up there and all the lights of New York light up before our eyes, then the low cloud came in from the Hudson, wow!!! Something I will never forget. Skating in Central Park is a must, a few bruised bums but sat there after with a hot chocolate made them better.

Will definitely go back and stay at the wellington.

The Wellington is old and it looks like it is being updated but our rooms were clean and comfortable. We received prompt, courteous service and found the staff to be extremely
helpful during our stay.

Even though the location is superb, the hotel is not worth the money. The hotel is dated and could definitely use better housekeeping. Service is just ok. I would not stay here again and would not recommend it.

It has a very rude, non-cooperative staff. They were very lazy an took hours to shift my stuff to the room. The rooms are too small, washroom door had fault and was not closing at all, useless air conditioner. The bed is too small and room did not have any space to walk. The entrance was dirty and was overcrowded with people and no place to sit. Long queues and being the staff so lazy, it was hard to even stand. Should say a bog NO to this hotel!!
