We were expecting atleast a 3 1/2 star hotel but this hotel did not quite make those expectations. If you can get it for a great rate of $200 a night, go for it! The rooms that face the West and South have so many windows that on a hot day they bake....the air conditioner could not keep up and the room got to 83 degrees!! Lobby staff was helpful and courteous. Not too convenient to subways.

Felt very let down by this hotel as its advertised benefits over similar and lower priced establishments painted a picture far removed from the reality. Its initial appearance is clean, tidy, nicely if somewhat gaudery decorated and the staff are pleasant. The promised comfort and convenience of overlooking the East River and the majestic 59th Street Bridge are only available to those, I imagine who are lucky enough to get a room with a view as they were not available at the front and side rooms I unfortunately inhabited. Also transcending from an average midtown hotel experience eluded me as the all night traffic, police and fire sirens did their best to keep me awake, and that was after the noise coming through the paper thin walls from adjoining rooms finally fell silent. The room sizes are acceptable but no where near as big as their website pictures would have you believe, I also had difficulty finding somewhere to hang my clothes. I was told later every room has a wardrobe but neither I nor my friend could find one, what we did find was a locked door which we assumed was an adjoining door to the next room but other than that no joy. They were no comforts in the room, no drinks, coffee, tea etc. no nicknack's you know the basic things you find in even the cheapest hotels, no fridge either. We were told if you want a drink to phone down but we all know what that means, having to put your hand in your pocket to tip so naturally you don't bother, after all you are paying through the nose in the first place. Noises in the night, apart from the traffic, over-excitable police and fire engines and partying neighbours we had to suffer weird loud noises coming from the bathroom every 30 minutes or so, so bad we insisted on a change of room the next day. Things did not improve much, the noise less the bathroom continued, no promised view of the river bar a sideways squint if you pressed your face close enough to the window and that after repeatedly nearly breaking your toes on the stupid metal feet of the, I will admit, comfortable beds. Bathroom light packed up whilst my friend was in the shower, he fell and hurt his back, the next day brown water came out of the shower whilst he was bathing. No breathtaking view of the skyline at dusk from the Rooftop Restaurant & Bar, it was closed for refurbishment. Nice of them to let us know in advance, if anything that was the thing that closed the deal and helped us decide to stay there. No WiFi either unless you pay for it and for 24 hours only at an exorbitant price for one device only, more if you want two or more. Every single hotel I have stayed in from the very cheapest until this one has been free, what a rip off. We did complain and spoke to the accommodation director who was pleasant if somewhat patronising, he went away and said he would reduce our bill by the tax due, not really satisfactory and even more surprising to then approach the reception desk and find they had already charged my credit card before I had given my permission. Overall view is this is a 3 star hotel with pretensions of being 5 star, if it were cheaper it might be acceptable but as its trying to be something its not, it can only be a disappointment.

A great hotel in a top neighbourhood. The subway is 10-15 minutes walk away. The rooms are modern and light with fantastic views. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was amazing. We had breakfast at the local diner as hotel breakfasts are always expensive and we only eat light breakfasts anyway. Shame the rooftop bar was closed but I'm sure it will be lovely when finished. Main downside is wifi is not included. I wouldn't recommend paying for it as wifi is free all over NYC including Starbucks which is only round the corner. Enjoy your stay here!

Overall very happy with The Bentely Hotel, not too far from fifth avenue. It was a shame that the restaurant was closed as that would have been handy when getting back late. The diner on the corner of the next street up did a good cooked breakfast however. The staff were very helpful and would definitely recommend the use of their car for collection/return to the airport, excellent value.

We spent two days at the Bentley and had a very nice stay. High-up room overlooking the river - magnificent view. Friendly and informative staff at the desk and at the little lobby bar (where we bought a Starbucks & bun each morning, and ate at the outdoor terrace).
Only drawbacks were windows that do not open (a common drawback nowadays) and the loud, antsy music in the elevators.
Neither glitch would prevent us from staying at the Bentley again. A good walk to the subway - very doable for us and we are reasonably fit 61-year-olds; restaurants and a moviehouse a short walk away from the hotel.
Pretty room decoration. We recommend!

Room Tip: We recommend an upper floor: ours was the 16th and a corner room. The entire corner was window, with...

Been here three times in past two years. Rates are good location great. Room and bathroom clean . . Bed and pillows comfortable . Staff accommodating . Found the exercise room then went for breakfast on site..good food. Roof restaurant was under construction but walked through. Awesome decorating and view. Parking sucks and received a $90 ticket for parking on st. Only
Found out at checkout that hotel has parking on premises for $25! Will stay again

Another business trip and this one was to NYC. Wanted to stay in mid town but off the beaten path. Bentley was just the ticket. The staff was helpful. The room comfortable. In the shadow of the 59th street bridge. No the restaurant was not open yet, but it is one block from 1st Street and all of their Restaurants. I had a great meal each night and and a short walk back to the hotel let it settle. I did read the other reviews of the hotel before I left home and knew enough to take my own travel coffee pot. The lobby bar and outside tables were a great place to watch the President drive by.

Room Tip: If you have trouble sleeping with street noise bring along a white noise machine.
