Secured an online deal with 40% off that made the stay more acceptable. Was clean and the staff fine I lucked out and didnt get any of the check in or out conjestion the renovations were creating. Never ate here nor enjoyed the roof bar but theres plenty of eateries about and walking distance to subways , central park, natural histroy musuem etc Plenty of second hand book sellers about that i enjoyed too. The room was clean and the bed super big and comfortable, and one almost requires a step ladder to get into, no view. The decor fine and the bathroom generous in size with great pressure and linnen. Nespresso machine nice but no fridge. Could hear corridor traffic but no city sounds, wifi fine and included in my package. Stay here again? sure but only with discount as there was nothing noteable to justify full costs but NYC is expensive for digs.

Room, admittedly large, nice and clean. My company booked me an "accessible" room, fair enough.

Booked hotel specifically for business/valet needs. Car sat in front of hotel for unspecified amount of time. Checked it at 2330, dropped stuff off in room, went back downstairs and bar/restaurant had closed at 2330 (no room service).
"Reason" for the lack of service, it's a boutique hotel. Apparently no one advised that some "boutique" hotels take pride in their service and amenities (read kimpton, read the icon, etc...).
Disappointed.

Yes, I would stay here again. But it did not meet my expectations. The website photos make this place look amazing. It isn't. Just some mod looking ikea furniture and lots of cheap feelings pillows on your bed. Our room with a king size bed was incredibly small. No sitting chair. Just a big bed occupying the entire space. I'm not sure if all the rooms are this small. Next time I would ask more questions before reserving. Some positives: clean, modern feel, excellent location (near the 1 line on Broadway and near Zabars for breakfast), very friendly staff. More negatives WARNING -- No FREE WI FI.. Yikes that is a downer. The housekeeping was a bit sloppy, forgetting to give us clean drinking glasses (yuck), water bottles and forgetting to give us clean towels two of the days we stayed (yuck). The lobby seems like it wants to be an ALOFT hotel with the blaring loud music that is extremely annoying
and makes it hard to here yourself think in the very nice sitting area in the lobby. Yes I would go back if the price was right compared to the Nearby Lucerne.

Room Tip: Find out the size of your room in advance.

Booked a penthouse loft suite for a special mother/daughter weekend. Plenty of space for two, with stunning views of the river on one side and a city scape that includes the roof of the Museum of Natural History on the other. Hotel employees were generally pleasant and helpful. The new beds are very comfortable and the room was fairly clean.

However, there were several major problems with our stay:

We were unable to use the sit-out balcony because of a continuous drip from the eave above, despite the lack of rain. I reported this and was told maintenance would take care of it, but it continued. No one followed up with us, offered us a different room, or made any attempt to compensate us for the lack of use of the balcony.

This was a very expensive hotel room that I only reserved because of the sit out balcony, so I was quite disappointed with the situation.

Also, the bathroom needed work. Both drains were slow and the sliding glass doors were difficult to use. I did not report this, since the previous problem was not addressed.

One of four elevators wasn't working during our entire four day stay, and the call lights in the lobby were out so you never knew if the elevator was coming or if it, too, was broken.

Overall, as a former regular customer of On the Ave, it seems that NYLO made strictly cosmetic/superficial renovations without rectifying some of the more urgent infrastructural problems of the aging property.

I visit NYC frequently and am considering changing to a different hotel because of these issues.

Just returned from 3 nights and we loved the location and will return happily. Just a few blocks to the subway and Central Park and other great attractions. The beds and pillows were the best and we slept peacefully in a quiet room on the 10th floor. All the staff was friendly and attentive. All the doormen were eager to help and greeted us warmly. Alberto was especially helpful. Lots of good resturants within walking distnace. Some reviews prior to booking referenced the decor, but we felt it was nice and fit in with the building. Loved the bar in the lobby, especially with the door open to the street on Nov. 1. Will go back to NYLO New York City. Loved the patio and view on the 16th floor. Nice to relax there after a long day of walking and take in the views of the sky.

Room Tip: We requested an upper level room.

WOW! The renovation was worth the wait! We have been regulars at OTA and the change to NYLO NY with renovated rooms, hardwood floors, new beddings and furniture have made our stays excellent+. Add to that the new lobby, bar, areas to relax and mingle or people watch are simply awesome. Best part with the change, the people did not and the same excellent service continues. Scott Calderon and his reservation staff are exceptional as they guide you to make the right room type based upon you situation. And a new restaurant to enjoy with Red Farm. You will be pleased with your decision to book a room at NYLO NYC!

Room Tip: 14th floor great patios!

This used to be the On The Ave Hotel, which was quite comfortable. Now it's a NYLO, and the rooms have been redecorated to conform that that company's standard "loft-like" décor. This is unfortunate, because now the rooms have no carpet on the floors and no comfortable chairs in which to sit, which is a big deal if you've been walking the NY sidewalks all day. There are not even any drawers in which to put your clothes; only locker-type boxes. However, the roof top terrace is very nice. And the location is excellent. But because of the uncomfortable rooms it now has, I will not go back.
