“Overall, a very pleasant stay!”
Reviewed February 23, 2014

We booked the room through Expedia for a one night stay in NYC. I called the hotel prior to arriving, and was advised that they had a discount parking partnership with a local garage who, with validation cost only $38 dollars instead of $60.
Our room was cozy, but clean and comfortable. The bathroom was quite nice, with a great shower. We slept in, because the bed was so comfortable, and the room was extremely quiet! The staff we encountered were professional, and friendly. We ordered room service, and were pleasantly suprised with the quality of the food!
We look forward to our next opportunity to come back. Well done!

We recently stayed at the Lucerne while at a Teachers College conference. The hotel has an excellent location. It is located bout 150 yards from a subway station, which runs the 1 and 2 lines. Very safe residential neighborhood. There is a drug store/grocery across the street, open 24/7--great for stopping for snacks and drinks. The hotel has very friendly and helpful desk staff. Very clean rooms that are up-to-date. Numerous restaurants within walking distance. I will stay at this hotel again on future trips.

Room Tip: I liked my room on the 11th floor. It was quiet.

I was giving a talk at Columbia University, and the university booked this hotel for me--they got a rate of $220/night for a truly huge and lovely room (see my pics). This is a seriously good deal for Manhattan.

Arrival was great: doorman helped me with my bags, the lady at the front desk was friendly and efficient. There's a comfortable lobby with sofas and arm chairs.

My room really was fabulous. Most NYC hotel rooms are teeny tiny. Not this one. Two double beds, large desk, dresser, a hallway with wooden floors, large closet, and a really smart and stylish bathroom with shower, bath, and a huge pile of fluffy white towels.

Excellent free wifi throughout the hotel, and a wonderful French restaurant, called Nice Matin (guests of the hotel get a 15% discount for breakfast; make sure to get a voucher each day at the front desk).

Business center has free printing for your boarding pass.

Staff are fantastic.

There's a decent gym. Rooms have coffee/tea maker. The rooms and the rest of the hotel were spotless.

I slept really, really well. The beds are wonderfully comfortable with nice down pillows. I had a room on the 8th floor with breathtaking city views.

This is surely the best secret in the city! I can't fault it, I really can't.

Room Tip: Get a room high up for the killer views!

Our room was pretty decent for $150 in Manhattan and close to the Subway too. The bed was very comfortable and the room and bathroom spotlessly clean. Staff were very friendly and welcoming when we needed them. One significant grip was that the noise insulation between rooms is poor. One of our neighbours decided to make calls at 2am and then started watching TV at 4am. Luckily we had the dog's doodahs of earplugs so we could shut out the noise.

We stayed at the Lucerne for 3 nights -- over the long Presidents week-end.
The rooms were very clean, lovely and well-appointed, with handsome decor and comfortable beds.
We especially appreciated the nice extras -- morning delivery of the NY Times to our room -- in-room safe., umbrellas in the rooms. All of the staff was very pleasant and helpful -- upstairs housekeeping and in the lobby.
Its great location on the Upper West Side (with easy subway access and walkable to a huge variety of stores and restaurants) was a real plus and we took full advantage of that.
We felt that we got excellent value and attention for the price. We felt very much at home here.
We will definitely return.

It was nice to stay in a hotel that had a reasonable price, was not cookie cutter, had some character with out being pretentious. Just had good service, pleasant rooms and a pleasant staff. Very convenient location on the west side. Will definitely stay there again.

The location, cleanliness, and staff were all the very best for our trip to celebrate our grand-baby's (twins) first birthday. We could walk to the subway, the local restaurants and pubs. Excellent shopping in close proximity to the hotel. Will definitely go back.

Room Tip: Very convenient for all activities.
