The hotel is beautiful the people that work there are wonderful. If you stay on the upper westside make this your first choose. The location is great and the surroundings are beautiful. Walk to Central Park and may other sites you will like to see. Charming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is New York at it finest.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Lucerne. The room was a good size, and had all the facilities we required, including an iron and ironing board, safe, free Wifi, hair dryer, umbrella etc. The furnishings were charming, and the staff were very helpful and very accommodating. An added friendly touch was the wine and cheese hours held in the foyer three times a week. This was a great location, one block from the subway, yet away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. We would certainly stay here again!

Wonderful hotel on the Upper West Side. Great staff and excellent restaurant onsite. Close to Lincoln Center, Central Park, and the Museum of Natural History. Lovely neighborhood for shopping and eating out, with a drugstore right across the street.

This is a very family friendly hotel. Just blocks from Central Park, American Museum of Natural History and multiple fabulous restaurants, including just blocks from Zabar's!
Very simple accommodations, but very clean and homey feel. This is a great place for a real upper west side experience. And it is only 1 block from the subway!

Room Tip: Double check room details - descriptions were a bit different from what we got

We have stayed here frequently over the last 4 years, when we visit our student at Columbia. The hotel has nicely decorated rooms, accomodating and informative staff, and nicely decorated rooms. They offer Columbia and AAA discount rates. The concierge has been helpful and informative in getting tickets to Broadway shows and tours on the Hudson and to the 9/11 Memorial. The subway stop at Broadway and 79th is convenient to go up to Columbia/Barnard (3 stops) and down to Times Square, Columbus Circle and Midtown. We have walked to Columbus Circle from here, and also up to campus, although it is a rather long walk. There are wonderful restaurants on Amsterdam within one or two blocks of the hotel, particularly Emack & Bolio's at 79th and Amsterdam, and Brother Jimmy's, and the Vine, near 80th and Amsterdam. The hotel also offers discounts on breakfast at its dining room, Nice Matin, where we almost always eat breakfast--the Egg White Fritatta is great, as is the oatmeal and french toast. Overall, we think it's the best place to stay on the Upper West Side. We have tried others, but the Lucerne is our favorite.

Room Tip: I personally like the rooms that face 79th or Amsterdam, just because you can look out and see what...

Visiting my daughter at Barnard and this was about 30 blocks away, but for $199 a night, you couldn't beat it! Charming rooms (I had a queen), wonderful, friendly people (from the doormen to the concierge to every staff member I encountered!). It poured when I was there, and they had a large umbrella in the room for guests - just a nice touch. I also visited my mom in Tribeca - a quick taxi and I was there - a charming, lovely hotel on the upper west side. I hope to stay there again!

Room Tip: I don't know how to undo the "terrible" on the pool and spa - they just didn't hav...

Having stayed in many New York hotels before, we were very pleasantly surprised by the Lucerne: spacious (by NY standards) room, very quiet, good facilities, and very polite and helpful staff. The location is perfect: lots of local bars and restaurants (and a 24-hour shop across the street), with a proper "neighbourhood" feel (much nicer than alternative touristy/corporate locations) and just one short block to the subway. We stayed as a family (2 adults, 2 kids 10 & 12) in one room, and we didn't feel cramped; we'll definitely be back, I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else in NY now I've found the Lucerne!
