“A Great Place”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

We stayed at The Lucerne Hotel for a long weekend Friday through Sunday while in New York for a family get together. The Hotel was recommended to us by my Sister-in-Law who had been there before and liked it. My Sister-in-Law, her family, and my Brother-in-Law, his daughter, myself and my family all stayed in the hotel in what I would say were one of the nicer suites in terms of space (for New York) and layout. The room had a good sized bath and was properly kept...good water pressure and drainage in the tub...one thing I found lacking in too many accommodations. The rooms were clean and in good repair. Apparently they were recently redecorated and brought to current style and luxury standard.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who needs to be in the Midtown/Upper West side of New York, close to the Theater District and two blocks from Central Park...a place to be just outside the Hustle & Bustle.

We have stayed here every year for at least 4 years. It is the best hotel on the UWS. Very clean with nice service. Ann, the concierge, knows everything about the city, restaurants and shows. For us the decor, while new, is grandmothers style. Beds are comfy and rooms are not too small. Book early to get a decent rate.

Room Tip: Get a quiet room and go outside for the view.

Recently stayed for 5 nights in this Upper West Side location. One block from 79th Street Metro and right amonst the restaurant strip in Amsterdam Street. Reem was very comfortable although a little small- but hey its New York.
Has a nice restaurant-Nice-Matin attached and guests receive discount off breakfast. We enjoyed that twice during our stay.
Only a short stroll to Central Park.
Staff were very good.

We recently spent 5 nights at the Lucerne Hotel and could not have been happier. The was costly but nothing is cheap in NYC. We booked thru Booking.com which did save us a few dollars/night and did not require prepayment and no cancellation fees.
We booked the superior queen room - it was small but very compact. It was clean, comfortable and had everything one would expect for a hotel of this calibre. It was well located on the Upper West side, in the middle of a local restaurant district(Italian Restaurant Al Dente V Good and inexpensive), a block from Central Park and subway. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful decor very pleasing and beds very comfortable. It was also quite peaceful considering the location. Breakfast in hotel Restaurant was also of high standard and reasonably priced.

We stayed for six nights as a family of four. On arrival we had been upgraded to a premium suite at no cost. Unfortunately there was a VERY noisy Italian family in the room next door and we all slept badly, so the next morning the reception staff kindly moved us - to an even better suite! Yay! Throughout our stay the staff were excellent and so friendly, especially the lady with the long hair (sorry I don't recall her name).

I do have to say that the rooms are in need of updating. In our first room the roll-out sofa was so old you could feel the springs right through it, it wasn't usable. In the second room the shower broke and you could hear the plumbing from the room next door very loudly. the shower was fixed after we reported it. On our last morning there was no hot water.

But we loved the hotel, the location was great, it's away from all the tourist traps in a residential area with lots of restaurants and close to museums and the subway. Perfect! We will definitely be back, thank you. Good service can make even a 'slightly faded' hotel seem like the best!

OK, at over $290/night + taxes staying in NYC is costly. Saved a few dollars by booking via "booking.com" with no prepayment nor cancellation fees. But, this place was nice and we had a suite with a small and I mean small kitchenette. The beds were nice and firm they way I like them. The service was good. The location was awesome - near subway stations, near central part and museums. Car rental places were walking distance away. So, when we arrived after a week in upstate NY, we just unloaded all our stuff, and then dropped the car off nearby. It was very convenient. The subway ride to the Yankees game was short. I also liked the Indian restaurants across the street.

Room Tip: We had a room on the 8th floor. It was quiet. I didn't hear sirens or other nightly activity I...

We found this hotel through recommended reviews and they were right. It had basically every thing we needed to make this trip as wonderful as it was. The staff were very accommodating pleasant and helpful at all times. Our rooms were large, quiet, very clean and the cleaning staff made us enjoy coming back from our busy days and evenings.

It was in a great location, with the subway being a block away. Also the area was quieter, close to great restaurants, Central Park, and even great shopping. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Just ask for a quiet room on a higher floor.
