“Good location for Upper East Side, but accomodations are lacking”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

The location is excellent if you want an Upper West Side stay. This is a neat classic NYC building, but our room was very disappointing. We've had better rooms at this price, it's not a great value. We only had a queen bed, which seems to be the norm at the Lucerne. The room was small, the tv was small and it feels old. Bed covers not so nice. This is a clean hotel, which is important, but things just feel dated. It doesn't have a restaurant, and the restaurant next door was busy and wouldn't make special accommodations for hotel residents for dinner or brunch without reservations. The bathroom was okay, but nothing to write home about. This isn't a hotel to hang out in (lobby or room), but I guess could be okay for just sleeping. Know this wasn't a horrible stay, and it was nice being near restaurants & major subway lines, but we won't be back - NYC has more to offer.

The Lucerne Hotel is a beautiful, wonderfully restored older hotel near Central Park. It has character and charm yet is fully modern and comfortable. The staff are professional and friendly and ready and happy to help with any request. I'd recommend this hotel without hesitation. Its well priced and the location is great. The Nice Matin restaurant is wonderful for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are also many other restaurant choices nearby.

Conviently located near the subway. Very helpful staff and the room was excellent. If you want a suite with a small fridge and microwave, be sure to request them when you make your reservations because they are not in all rooms.

Room Tip: I enjoyed having the New York Times available outside my door when I awoke.

Location is great (subway lines 1&2 just a few steps away),Central Park and Natural History Museum is two blocks away. Cleaningness and size of the room are ideal for a comfortable stay.
Furniture is clasic and up dated although beds may be not too comfortable and TV is very small.
Staff is very helpfull.

We had a very nice suite with a small fridge and microwave... convenient. The price was reasonable for NY. The best thing was being able to walk a few blocks to the Natural History Museum and across the park to the Metropolitan Museum. The restaurant next to the lobby is okay and there are several other interesting restaurants on the upper west side.

Room Tip: I recommend having a suite. Elevators can be busy at checkout time.

This hotel was lovely, quiet and elegant. The staff was helpful and pleasant. The area is convenient to everything- subway(a block away), great restaurants, Zabars, Harry's Shoes. Pharmacy across the street. We will be back!

Room Tip: We stayed on the 5th floor facing 79th. The room was very quiet. We did not hear any street noises.
