“Wonderfull Hotel on Upper West Side”

I have stayed here many times and always find this hotel one of the gems of New York. The location is fantastic, the rooms are nice and well-priced and the hotel staff is super friendly. Plus, you are staying in a real neighborhood.

Don't come to this hotel for its ornate decor. If you need posh or glamour there are many others to choose from in other parts of Manhattan. Think European 3-star with some extras (business center, gym, spa). The upper west side is great for small neighborhood restaurants and services (people live here and aren't all tourists). Everything is close or easily accessible by subway or cab - the walking is superb, too. The place is well-run and the staff take care of you. We thought our room was a little cramped and they changed our room while we were out for the day and held onto our luggage. So...do you want to be n the middle of all the action or do you want to enjoy the action but escape at the end of the day? If the latter, this is your place.

I've stayed here before and would stay again. Perfect location, attentive & friendly staff and beautifully appointed rooms. My room was plenty big for 1 person, was so beautiful I culdn't get over it and the bathroom was immaculate and beautiful. I was looking for a place for a late evening coffe & dessert and the concierge recommended "cafe lalo" within walking distance, a small cafe that was filled with tourists & locals, had delicious pastries and I later found out was a setting for a scene in the film "You've got Mail". The hotel is in a lovely neighborhood and within walking distance to several great NYC museums, the Metropolitan, Natural History & MoMA. Highly recommend this hotel.

Had meetings on the upper west side before a three day event in mid town, so I decided to stay closer to meetings for the first night of my trip. The Lucerne exceeded expectations on every level: great staff, lovely room (of course its small, but it's lovely) and extreme comfort. The neighborhood is wonderful, of course, with everything you need and Zabars too! I wish that I could have stayed the next four days at the Lucerne.

The hotel earns my rating based on the bang for the buck you get relative to other New York City hotels. The rooms clearly lack storage space for stays of over two days if occupied by two people. The a/c units are old and noisy. But, the rooms and common areas are very clean. The hotel restaurant has received a number of rewards, so prices there are relatively high. I recommend going to the Amsterdam Diner on Amsterdam Ave about a block or so up for breakfast. Good food at surprisingly low prices! Staff are professional and relatively friendly. College bars are nearby, plenty of decent and diverse dining is available in the area. The subway stop (1) is on the same block and in conjunction with the express lines one stop down it offers really quick travel to mid- and downtown. Overall, a very positive experience.

I found this hotel on the internet. The rooms are very nice and the location is just enough out of the way to be relaxing. It is close to Central Park and several major museums and the subway stops a block away. There are tons of excellent restaurants nearby on Amsterdam Ave.The staff were friendly and helpful.

First time staying at the Lucerne. I'm glad I chose this place. was in the city for one night to see a broadway show but i knew I didn't want to stay in touristy midtown. Just two blocks from Central Park and even closer to the Museum of Natural History with a ton of good restaurants nearby. Friendly service, clean rooms, good value.
