Elegant hotel, from the lobby to the bedrooms and in a central area. Spotlessly clean. All staff very helpful without being obtrusive. Thought rooms were a reasonable size. We were on 12th floor and heard no noise from outside. Could not hear anything from adjoining rooms. Subway a few minutes walk, taxis outside the door. Two blocks from central park, (8-10 mins walk). Lots of places to eat breakfast/lunch/dinner. American Museum of Natural History very close by. We would stay at The Lucerne again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less noise due to traffic at ground level

We had a wonderful stay, at the end of 4 weeks of traveling around the world from Australia with 3 children under 6, The Lucerne made us feel at home, very welcoming! The hotel had a classic New York feel, great access to the Natural History Museum, Central Park and the subway to head downtown. The location lets you feel the New York buzz without it being over-whelming. We would return to The Lucerne if we are in New York again, with or without the kids, a great experience at all levels, thank you!

Enjoyed staying at the Lucerne - great location near Central Park and the Museum of Natural History. Loved walking around the shops nearby too. The property was so refined and the staff were super courteous. Felt like royalty! The room was a typically small NYC space, but tastefully arranged with all of the amenities without leaving you feeling cramped. Wonderful view from the upper floors. Looking forward to returning and staying longer!

Room Tip: Upper floor so you can have a nice view

This is a historical hotel built in the early 1900's on Amsterdam just west of The Natural History Museum. It was totally gutted and renovated about 5 years ago, so interior is all new, but the outside is completely authentic and preserved. The rooms are wonderful size, nicely decorated, new, clean bathrooms. The staff is more than helpful. Location is great, close to subways, or great walks along Central Park. Nice Matin restaurant is in the first level of the hotel. It is wonderful, great food and easy. Also, all along Amsterdam Ave. are several blocks of great restaurants. We were there in the summer and the restaurants all had outdoor seating, looking much like the streets of Paris and other European cities. Because it is more remote from too crowded, crazy Times Square area, the prices are a bargain! Highly recommend!

Room Tip: We had a corner room overlooking Amsterdam and 79th which was large and had a entry hall. Great room...

We really enjoyed our stay at the lucerne - Liz the concierge was fantastic. Clean, comfortable rooms - slept like a log, Bit small but we did have a base room and it is NYC. Staff were also fantastic.

Really glad we didnt stay in the busier areas - the lucerne is right near the subway to downtown and, as other reviewers have said, it was great to escape back to the peace and tranquility of our hotel after being buffeted by other tourists downtown.

This hotel is also ideally situated near central park and the natural history museum. There are also lots of laundrettes nearby (which many travellers know is a really good thing) and we got masses of washing done for us for less than $10.

Big thumbs up for The Lucerne Hotel - thanks for making our stay so pleasant.

I stay at the Lucerne for frequent business trips in New York and love the location on the Upper West side. I can get a morning run in at Cenrral Park, shop in some great stores along Columbia Avenue, and eat at affordable yet high quality neighborhood restaurants. The rooms are small, but comfortable and all have varying lay-outs giving the hotel a charming European feel. Service and staff are terrific.
