Description: The building at 50 Commerce pulses with history. Depression-era revelers snuck in it when it was a speakeasy. As the Blue Mill Tavern, it saw 50 years of change. And as Grange Hall, it captured the heart of Greenwich Village as a beloved gathering place. Now, as Commerce, a restaurant serving fine food prepared by chef Harold Moore, the building welcomes a slew of modern visitors seeking a warm place to share a meal and a sense of community. Owned by reputable restauranteur Tony Zazula and noted Chef Harold Moore, Commerce is homage to old New York, celebrating a city where history and contemporary sensibilities collide on every corner.

Wonderful food, terrific service. We were tired and hungry and wanted a quick meal, a glass of wine and the chance to head back to our apartment for an early night. The service was prompt, although the restaurant was very crowded (full, actually, we were lucky to be seated as walk ins) and the food exquisite. Beautiful bread basket, fabulous hand made pasta and the venison cooked to perfection. Excellent and helpful service.

cool location, smallish, can get very crowded and the wait can be tough (particularly given the cramped bar area)...that said, once you are able to sit down, the food is great. definitely try the hamachi, ham wrapped melon...for entrees, the veal meatballs, carbonara and lobster are must tries. Try to avoid eating too much bread, though you will be tempted!

We were recommended to try Commece by our food tour guide. We stayed in times square and wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of things and this was just the place!! We both had a pasta dish. I am used to homemade, authentic Italian cooking as my parents are from Italy. Both dishes were better than my mother's!! The bread was delicious as well...The atmosphere is quiet and casual. The service was excellent as well! We definitely plan on trying it again!

This resturant is on a tree lined street next to a local theatre. You can't beleive you are right in the heart of the village. Food was very flavorful. We had the Sea bass and Rosemary Papardelle with Lamb. Both were excellent. if you like bread ( I love bread), the bread basket is great. Homemade pretzel stick and cheese bread....yum!!

Great service and knockout martinis. A small but very cute fit out and we sat in a comfortable booth at the back. Open Sunday nights and recommended!
