“My wedding at the waldorf”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2010

I got married in a suite at the Towers and had the reception in Peacock Alley. The suite was the most expensive one with a HUGE living room, dressing room, HUGE bedroom, bathroom, two study areas, massive hallway...it was an incredibly beautiful room. The furnishings are so classic, the views amazing. My wedding co-ordinator Carmen was wonderful too. We had a small wedding party of 23 so it wasnt the large grand wedding that usually takes place at this hotel but the smallish size of Peacock Alley private dining room was perfect. The food was delicious and the staff at the wedding meal were fantastic.

Having stayed at the regular Waldorf twice before but not the towers, I can say the difference was worth paying for. The service at reception and concierge was so much better, no queue at all, phone answered right away etc, whereas in the regular hotel you can wait ages at the reception desk or on the phone to guest services.

I had a wonderful wedding there - I got a night free and stayed 3 nights which made it a bit more affordable. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend getting married at the Waldorf, a timeless, classic, beautiful venue for any wedding, large or small.

The free breakfast in the Towers lounge was also great - and if you can, get a window table there as the view is incredible!

For a three day annual getaway to NY with my sister, I chose the Towers over other expensive mid-town hotels on the basis of excellent Tripadvisor reviews and was not disappointed. The location is unbeatable. The discreet side street entrance and small lobby give the Towers an intimacy right away (cabs can pull into an interior unloading entrance which is convenient also). The desk staff and luggage people were correct, courteous and helpful. We were early and the room was not quite ready but the desk clerk suggested a short wait in the 26th floor club. The club floor turned out to be a huge convenience because a very nice breakfast buffet is served there in the morning, plus tea, coffee and snacks all day until 4 pm, which is pleasant after a tiring day rushing around Manhattan. The room was slightly dated in decor and the bathroom was somewhat small, but all amenities were there--flat screen TV, large closet, pristine linens, and the room itself was extremely spacious and totally quiet. This is hard to find in NY! Criticism: bathtub was chipped and there were handprints on the wall paper which concealed the closet. Also, when making a reservation online you are asked if you want to upgrade for "$39 " per night. First of all, I don't appreciate feeling I need to upgrade from an already expensive rate to get a nice room. Second, there wasn't actually a $39 upgrade when I checked, the available rooms were suites available at much higher prices per night. Despite these minor criticisms, I will definitely return to this pleasant, reliable, and quite special hotel.

We have stayed at the Waldorf Astoria in various rooms and categories many times. This time, post cruise for one night, I booked a deluxe king room on the concierge level for $449 U.S.
We were upgraded to the Waldorf Towers in the same room category upon our arrival and allowed to check in between 12:30-1:00 pm.
Our room was spacious, with a lovely king size bed and other nice furnishings. The bathroom was very small, like those in the standard category at the Waldorf Astoria section of the hotel.
There was a pay if you move it mini bar, a large walk in closet with a safety box (big enough for a 15" laptop), bathrobes, umbrella, and there was a hairdryer. Internet was an extra cost if you chose to use it.
The concierge level included the lounge where you could watch tv, have cookies, an apple, coffee, tea, soft drinks or water until 4pm and also have a small breakfast. This included the drinks listed above, pasteries, toast, cereal, fruit, meat & cheese. It was a very busy place for breakfast. There was no bar service available.
The concierge printed our boarding passes for us and ordered up a taxi to take us to the airport.
We also dined at the Bull & Bear and had an excellent meal, once again. Missed eating the Sunday buffet at Oscars which we would do again and forgo the lounge breakfast.
The Waldorf Astoria Towers has a great midtown location with bus & subway service just outside the door.
We will stay here again and highly recommend it.

The Waldorf Towers was fantastic. The room was large, the beds were very comfortable, the room was clean and it was everything we could of asked for. The continental breakfast was delicious with a choice of breakfasts from fresh fruit to smoked salmon. The service was great and the staff were always very helpful and friendly. The hotel was in a great location, very close to the city centre and we easily walked to lots of the attractions. Our stay there was second to none and we would highly recommend others to stay there.

We stayed at the Waldolf Towers for 2 nights before returning to France. We chose Waldolf because my husband has a diamond card (Is it what it's called? It's a Hilton membership card) and we wanted to use it for once in a family trip.

So we reserved a one-bed room suite as we usually do when we stay in a hotel. When we came at the reception, the lady who was the manager of the hotel upgraded us to a better suite, just like they usually do with the Diamond member.

What a surprise( I actually had to laugh when we came inside the door) ! She upgraded us to the Grand Suite which was actually an appartment. We had a grand piano in the living room. Our bed room had a bathroom with a dressing room. Our daughters had their own bath, of course. There was even a kitchen and a dining room... It was actually too big for us, but really a fun experience! This was definitely the biggest hotel room we have ever stayed.

The people working in the hotel were all very friendly as well. The room service came vey fast, too. I liked that the Towers had a smaller reception area because it's quieter compared with the Astoria's lobby.

So, for the very sweet lady who upgraded us to one of the nicest room in the hotel, I shall give a best score in my review! We had fun staying in that suite. Thank you.

We stayed in a Luxury Suite here for 4nights, and i cannot say just how wonderful it was. I will admit that it has been a childhood dream to stay at the Waldorf, and the 'Towers' is truly an experience. The Hotel staff, from check-in, the maid staff, concierge literally make this hotel what it is. Impeccable service, discreet and friendly.
It is worth getting a high floor, as the views over the city are fabulous, the suite itself was very spacious and the bed was huge! The Bar was a great place to start and end you evening, however the Steak house isn't worth the money. Nice steak, but super expensive and everything is added on top..i mean everything! And don't go straight to the concierge for tickets, highly ramped up prices, but great for advice!
As for location, being right in the middle of Midtown Manhattan, everything is on your doorstep.

I have been staying at the Waldorf for over 50 years and have always considered it "home" in NYC. However, my wife and I have never stayed in The Waldorf Towers and decided that staying there would be nice upon our return from Europe on the QM2 in July 2010. I had arranged through the concierge for a car to meet us at the ship and had requested an early check-in. We had a little difficulty locating the car at the pier because the driver was late and did not hold up a sign with our name but this was really not a big problem and we had a nice ride to the hotel. The Reception clerk seemed very nice and said they had a wonderful upgraded suite for us but it was not ready and we could wait in the Astoria Lounge which we did - waited and waited and waited. I finally went back down to the lobby to enquire about the room. Surprise! It was ready! It was also completely unsatisfactory - far smaller and in poorer repair than any accommodation we have ever had at the Waldorf. Another surprise - another much nicer suite was suddenly available which we took - Suite 38R2. The decor was elegant and the suite very comfortable but many little annoyances such as the TV not working, a plumbing problem, and the third day sandblasting the building immediately outside our windows! We could not hear a word anyone said in person or on the phone because of the incredibly loud sandblasting noise. I could not believe that at a hotel of this service-oriented calibre we had not been advised of this scheduled sandblasting prior to check-in! The Towers operations manager did come to our suite to apologize which was appreciated (also necessary because we could not hear each other on the phone) and did comp us for two of our five nights.
In summary, the Waldorf Towers is lovely and could have been a great experience. We will probably return some day but not with the enthusiasm we had originally had this time.
