It's difficult to beat the location of the hotel—just off Columbus Circle, the subway, and across the street from Central Park—and the service is impeccable. Everyone friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. The suite was beautiful and featured a pretty good street view. We could easily live in it, as it's outfitted with a full kitchen, living area, small dining area, spacious bedroom, and two full closets. The bed is spectacularly comfortable—like sleeping on a cloud—and we never heard a single peep from other guests or the traffic outside. Slept like a baby every night of our stay.
Just a few quibbles, mainly having to do with the bathroom, which is surprisingly subpar for a suite this large and otherwise accommodating. There's only one sink, one small towel rack, and, even worse, a bizarre folding half-door shower setup, through which so much water splashes that by the end of your shower, there's a lake of water on the floor. And no magnifying mirror? Come on. We women of a "certain age" need magnification to put on our makeup—even a Holiday Inn Express knows this.
Finally, while I appreciate the gratis espresso machine when taking an afternoon break, in the mornings I want to wake up and have a bona fide coffee. DON'T want to jog across the street to the Starbucks to get it, or, worse yet, pay room service and suffer the wait. The Sherry Netherland, where we usually stay, has a gratis Keurig, which is awesome. Come on TT, get with the coffee maker program, reoutfit your bathrooms, and you'll get a five star next time.
